I bought these at the end of the season last fall and was excited to pull them out and wear there this summer. They’re the best fitting hiking pant I own. And I love the smooth cool fabric. However, I’m really disappointed that after wearing them about half dozen times they have pulled so horribly I’m too embarrassed to wear them anymore. These were not inexpensive pants. I have Prana pants bought 20 years ago and have held up through years of rock climbing and these look more worn out from a few days of hiking a couple days of casual wear. Very disappointing.
I bought these for mountain biking, one size larger than normal so I could comfortably wear a chamois underneath. I have been wearing them multiple times each week - the fit is just right, I get good coverage without being too hot, and I can wear them on gentler rides without knee protection or fit knee pads underneath for burlier rides. The pockets with zippers are great for riding and storing small stuff like a key or chapstick.
I love everything about these capris...the lightweight fabric which stretches without stretching out, the breathability, the styling, the versatility. Everything except the waist size. I'm a fairly consistent size 4, except sometimes the waistband in size 4 is too large. These are the opposite...the waistband is VERY tight. If I went to a size 6 they'd be baggy everywhere else, so I wear them anyway, For reference I'm 5'4", 119lbs, athletic build.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] usually hike in tights because I got big ole athletic thighs and so many other items chafe. I bought these for casual and work wear. They were so comfortable that I decided to try them in the trail and I loved them. The material is LOVELY. No chafing over a 7 mile hike through the north cascades. And, no pilling after washing them, which is better than almost any other pants I own. I'm 5'7", 170, athletic build, size 10 fits great.
Love the fabric and the stretch and durability. Would suggest two changes: make the cargo pocket slightly deeper as it’s a struggle to fit my phone, and add a second cargo pocket on the other leg. Hand pockets aren’t useful for actual storing items, please maximize the cargo pocket potential. Would love to see these offered in teal, fuchsia (to match my Aspire II jacket) and something closer to cobalt.
I have been wearing Ferrosi pants, capris and shorts for years and absolutely love the Ferrosi fabric. OR fixed the two issues that plagued the women's Ferrosi... finally deep front pockets to handle today's phones and a waist that doesn't stretch past your hips. I have a straight build and as I had been frustrated by the small pocket size, I switched to men's Ferrosi shorts for bigger pockets. But, the weight of the phone would pull the shorts down and the waist would give so much that I was always pulling them up. I could pull the shorts completely down without unbuttoning them and I hate the draw strings. I took a chance and switched back to the women's version in the pants and capris after reading the waist and pockets had been addressed. I also took OR's advice and sized up and the new design is perfect for me. even sizing up, the overall fit is perfect... not too baggy. Love 'em!
I had been looking for capris pants for a while when I finally tried the ferrosi capris in a store. They were note the right size but I was able to order them directly from Outdoor Research. For me they are very versatile, light weight with side pocket which is very practical. I also like the length just below the knees. I wear them for shorter bike rides, too walk or even to get to work.
Can't decide if I should return. Originally ordered size 8, returned for size 10. These seem to run small in waist/rear. 5'1", 123 mature lbs. Some reviews state that these stretch. Not sure how these will wear on me. Guess I'll keep because they aren't tight, just snug. Hoping they will stretch out. We'll see. If not...at least I know the sizing is off for me and won't order again.
I am a curvy size 6. I was worried about the waist being tight as per other reviews. It's not. Follow the size guide and they'll fit. They fit wonderfully, I'm super happy with them. They're higher in the back so no crack-show when I'm squatting down or anything. Great material, lots of stretch, perfect waist. No negatives.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Purchased for my partner for climbing. Well, she wears them for climbing of course but also as casual wear for walking downtown and or lounging on a sunny deck. I also got myself two pairs of Ferrosi pants. Initially for climbing but I wear them all the time.
