Perfect!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the "Quarry" shorts from OR in 2020 alongside Ferrosi pants. I loved the pants but was so disappointed by the shorts - I don't have tree trunk legs but I had never worn shorts that were that tight on my thighs. I'm so glad they created a shorts version of the Ferrosi pants, and I'm glad I gave them a second chance, because these fit fantastic. Great stretch, love the integrated belt, and a really light fabric. If I *had* to criticize, I would say the orientation of the pockets takes some getting used to, but I also imagine they're designed to make it harder for things to fall out of your pockets. Definitely will get another pair!

Groovy shorts

The comfort level is excellent. I can't even tell I have them on. Thankfully, my wife reminds me before I walk out the door when I do not have them on. My daughter tells me the shorter length is hip, I am not sure if I am hip or a 70s pornstar, but I'm 47 so either one works for me. I will say the lack of a zipper was a surprise, especially since OR went to the trouble to outline where one would go. This must be what my wife feels like when she expects the pockets in her jeans to be actual pockets. Overall, I like the shorts and I am pleased with my purchase. Zippers and a longer length would be wonderful v2 options.

Outstanding construction and fit

Awesome shorts! I’m 5’4”, 155 pounds, 27” inseam. These shorts are just the right fit with a 7 inch inseam. Size small works perfectly. I love the cut of the pockets as nothing will fall out when you sit and the back pockets are deep enough for a wallet or iPhone, they’re very comfortable and well-built constructed. the sewn-in belt doesn’t bother me nor does it get in the way. It’s hard to find a nice pair of shorts that don’t go down to my knees or past and the Outdoor Research Ferrari is a great fit for me. I Purchased the black and gray and would like to have a choice of several other colors as well.

Great hiking short, almost perfect

These are very comfortable very stretchy hiking shorts that don’t punch up. They move great with you. They have ample pockets the material sheds light water breathe very well and are durable. I’ve done probably over a dozen hikes in these shorts and I have two pairs of them and they are fantastic. The only complaint is that there isn’t a fly so you have to push the shorts down to go to the bathroom if they want to make them perfect they would put a zip fly in which I would prefer. I am 5‘7“ and 165 pounds and a lot of shorts are too long for me, but these are perfect in size medium

There is no fly. Belt is not removeable

There is no fly. That is problematic. Belt is not removable . There is no reason it has to be sewn in. They run small, so they are a bit tight. Nice material.

I have used this as a river guide and climbing short. They are durable enough to handle everything I have put them through. This is the perfect summer adventure short.

great shorts for casual wear, even light gym use. Buckle built in is a plus, no belt needed

These shorts have quickly become my absolute favorite for backpacking, camping, and just in general. I find myself reaching for them even when lounging around the house or going out for a casual drink. The integrated belt and clasp absolutely sets the bar for keeping pants secure. I'm pretty skinny and lots of other shorts tend to slip or rub, especially when wearing a heavy pack. I also love the teal/blue colorway, really pops against a lot of other gear. The material is soft and a little stretchy, ripstop, isn't too snaggy on brush, dries fast, and breathes wonderfully. The pockets are roomy and deep, although the top-entry makes it a tad difficult to get things out when wearing a pack with thick hip belts. Ultimate short.

I love these shorts

These shorts are perfect. I have some "baggy" shorts from a different brand and I liked them a lot, but I just never loved them. I already love the Ferrosi 8" shorts so I figured I'd give these a try and boy am I glad I did. These are super comfy, they fit well, they dry fast, and the built in belt is genius. Since getting these shorts I rarely wear anything else, after dinner walk, yep, hanging with buddies, yep, chill shorts for around the campsite, yep, beach walk with an impromptu swim, yep. They are pretty much the ultimate vacation shorts. My only problem now is deciding which other colors I want. They are pricier than I would've expected but I think I'll get enough use out of them to justify it. I highly recommend them.

Tight waistband, fragile material

I purchased these shorts in black, size medium (like all of my shorts across all styles). I really like the overall appearance of the shorts, but the waist sizing is extremely tight- why not include a zipper fly at this price? I own the Astro Shorts - 7" in the same size and they aren't nearly as tight... Regardless, these aren't suitable for rock climbing, outdoor or indoor. First session I wore them on rock they snagged and frayed. I wore them again indoors and they got absolutely chewed up by the walls. Maybe these are more suitable for light hiking.
