I expected more durability from La Sportiva... I bought these a few weeks ago for a trip to the White Mountains. After only two weeks of hiking in the Whites the Aequilibrium Hike GTX are falling apart and allowing water in. Due to the durability alone, I cannot recommend these. I hope La Sportiva fixes the issue as these are a perfect crossover boot-trail runner for my hiking style. They are lightweight, allow a wider & natural range of movement, protects foot with well placed cushioning, plus the grip and double heel are top notch for control & stability on trail. Unfortunately, replacing these every couple weeks is not a viable option... If you hike infrequently or on very well maintained trails that won't be hard on your shoes- these could be a good fit. Otherwise, take a pass on these.
I have had these shoes for 5 months, and i love them. I took them to Iceland in the winter, where we trekked through glaciers, and they were very comfortable to wear all day. I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in August and love that they are super light, waterproof, and they are my favorite shows by far.
Great looking boot (not the usual boring brown) and love the very sturdy sole for hiking on rocky trails.
These are very narrow - even for La Sportiva. I also had to go up a half size from the women's La Sportiva Nucleo High II GTX Boot that I've bought 3 times. There are no back loops to help tug them on. The laces are cut in half and *sewn in*, which means you can't replace them, and the top ankle hook chews up laces. They are sexy. But I can't keep these for price point and given the design flaws.
