Love this!!
Put this on a cot and it's a huge improvement - my husband has covid and I have been sleeping on this pad on a cot in my office. Feels fine.
Super Comfort for Camp and Traditional Backpacking
Super comfortable to sleep on. I am a side sleeper and it is the best pad I have used to date. I use this with the Big Agnes Echo Park 20 sleeping setup and it is as close to a real bed as I have had camping. The material is nice and does not feel like plastic or rubber on the skin. The top has spandex blended in so it has a nice stretchiness to it without feeling like you’re sleeping on a balloon. The baffling is great. You can move around without noise and bounce. The only thing I would say could be improved is the included inflation sack. I use an air pump, but if I had to rely on the inflation sack I could see frustration setting in. It just doesn’t inflate very well or hold enough air to be efficient. However, once you have the pad inflated it is a gem. You can customize the level of inflation firmness by pressing the inflation check valve to your preferred comfort level. The valves are on the top front so they are easy to access. For backpacking it would not be considered a light by any through hikers or ultralight enthusiasts, but I would personally pack it due to how comfortable it has been for me. It is perfect for camping though, no question. This pad sits right at the point where you could get away with it being both a backpacking pad for traditional backpackers and campers alike. I like my sleep so I am willing to carry a few more ounces.
Air matt
this user had no issues with the air matt. But the stuff sack requires precision rolling to make it fit.
fine, but a few things to note
My wife’s Nemo Quasar was destroyed so we ended up replacing it with this since the wide version was on sale for $105. A lot of people complained about the inflation sack in the reviews, and I now understand why. It’s awful. It’s quite possibly the most unconventional inflation sack I’ve ever come across. The material is really thick which makes it difficult to manipulate. There isn’t even a meaningful way to seal off the end. You can’t roll it. You just have to twist it like an industrial trash bag or something. It works, but it feels like Big Agnes deliberately made our lives more difficult for no apparent reason with this inflation sack design It’s otherwise an excellent pad. Super comfortable with a nice R-Value. We were pretty skeptical of this sleeping bag prior to purchase since it seems identical to the Rapide SL (on paper) with the exception of being way cheaper. It also doesn’t really have a meaningful amount of reviews so we were a bit nervous. But im happy to report it’s a great product. It feels exactly the same as the Quasar or the Rapide SL. You set it up, it’s comfortable, and never really think about it again. Overall 5/5. Would buy again
Good to go
Spousal unit threw away old pad and refused to go camping more, so I bought Big Agnes for him. Success! And now I have one as well. They are comfortable. Two minor downsides: they are mildly noisy when one moves around ( spousal unit is virtually deaf so only I am bothered by this). And as the night progresses, a "deadly chasm" forms between the two pads.
It's just ok
This pad is supposed to be the fancier, cushier version of the rapide SL, but I honestly think that the rapide SL is comfier. This pad isn't very soft to the touch and the fabric on the top feels like rough plastic. It's also a little crinkly, but not so loud that it's annoying. Big Agnes says that the pad is designed to be fully inflated for max comfort, but I found that it was comfier when a little air was let out. Fully inflated, my partner and I both felt uncomfortable pressure on our lower backs. Slightly deflated, the problem went away but then we were bottoming out when sleeping on our sides. Regardless, the pad felt very firm and I personally did not like that. I woke up with joint pain. The baffles in this pad are very nice and I especially love the guard rails. When tossing and turning, I felt very secure on the pad and never once slipped off. I wish all inflatable pads had this feature. I did end up returning this pad and opted for the Neoloft instead as they have similar-ish dimensions. I'm very happy with that decision!
Disappointed
I got this to replace my very old tried and true Thermarest since my back was starting to hurt after sleeping on it (lasted me 8 years). My first time camping with this and I was so happy, it’s so comfortable and easy to inflate. However, on my second camping trip after inflating it I noticed it pretty quickly lost air. There must already be a rip in it. I’m so disappointed that the material didn’t even last me 2 camping trips.
Big Agnes Boundary Deluxe Insulated Sleeping Pad
I was ready to return the product after struggling with the inflation bag at first, but after a couple of tries, I figured out a process that worked very well. I’ve now used the sleep pad overnight, and it was extremely comfortable. I’m genuinely pleased with its performance and plan to leave a positive review. The pad also appears to be well constructed and thoughtfully designed.
Great for price. Side sleepers welcome!
very comfortable. worked great at low 30f weather and in snow. Fill sack is decent quality and stuff sack is average. Works well if you're a side or stomach sleeper
Love it!
I haven’t been able to use it in cold weather, but so far it seems comfortable and the surface doesn’t stick to my skin like other sleeping pads. It inflates easily and packs down to a great size. The inflation bag is much more heavy duty than I expected…everything seems built to last. Also includes a spare valve in the repair kit.
