norda  001A Trail-Running Shoes - Men's

The 001A men’s have prevented me from having bunion surgery. I run 6 miles 4 times a week and the comfort and width are allowing me to continue. They do run small and they are not the cutest shoe I have ever worn. I will be buying my second pair soon!

Not holding up to mountain trails. The toe of the tread is peeling off the shoes after less than 1 month. See photo below. Otherwise good shoes.

I loved the way these shoes looked when they popped up on my IG feed and then saw all of the incredibly positive reviews. Concerned about the price and the apparently inconsistent sizing, I held off until REI started offering them, knowing that shipping would be free and that an exchange would be easy if the fit was off. I followed the sizing recommendation based on actual foot length and this worked out perfectly as these are easily the most comfortable trail shoes I have ever tried. I don’t run ver much but I hike with my dogs quite often and I’m finding the Nordas to offer fantastic grip, support, and traction. Quality is top notch. Take the plunge and give them a try.

I'm on my 3rd pair of these shoes. I ran a 40 mile ultra marathon (The Grand Traverse mountain run) and I'll be running the Desert rats 100k in them. I have been replacing the pairs at 700 miles but they are still in good shape even with that mileage. They are durable and comfortable shoes!

I have cranky feet, wide toe and narrow heel, not to mention multiple foot surgeries. When I read about Norda I wondered if maybe just maybe this shoe might be my unicorn shoe. I wear a women’s 10.5/11 in a trail shoe so I ordered both the Jen’s 9 & 9.5 after finding out they last is the same for men and women’s sizes. When they arrived I found the 9.5 to be the perfect fit, but more than that they were comfortable right out of the box! I be have worn them all day everyday for a week now and I can’t stop saying how comfortable they are. I’m looking forward to taking them on a hike soon. To the person who said these are “just sneakers”…I beg to differ. There are incredibly sophisticated, well made, durable shoes. Great pains were taken to address all the nagging fit issues in most high end running/trail shoes. Are they expensive, yep they sure are but in my opinion, and the opinion of my cranky feet, they are worth every penny. Thank you Norda. Hey REI please carry the 001aG+!

I’m on my third pair of Norda 001, and that says everything. My first pair made it to 980 miles on trail before I retired them to casual wear, light hikes, and easy jogs. My second pair is currently around 600 miles and still going strong, and I just picked up a third pair to help take some of the load off. These are my daily trail trainers and ultra race shoes. From the Wasatch to the Chugach, they handle everything in front of them—technical trails, long miles, steep climbs, and everyday training. Durability has been incredible. The only slight issue I’ve had is some heel blistering, but that was easily fixed with Smartwool precise cushion low socks. Sizing-wise, I’d recommend going with the same size as your Salomon or La Sportiva shoes, which for me is about a half size up from what I’d wear in Vans, Converse, or Sperrys. The Raide and Norda cult is real—and for good reason. These shoes absolutely crush.

Interesting Shoe. This shoe is clearly made with quality materials and craftsmanship, it felt very nice to put on and use. The aesthetic looks a bit more stumpy in-person than online to me but pretty neat. The running experience on terrain felt great and I always felt stable and dry, even in snow. On firmer surfaces these shoes weren’t very forgiving, I wouldn’t wear these if my run includes any use on pavement / packed gravel. Good shoe, mid-value.

Amazing shoe! Need at 14! They run small, I usually wear a 13, but the 13 is way too snug with an Injinji liner, and a mid weight Darn Tough. Which is unfortunate because this is an awesome shoe.

The 001A's are comfortable with a relatively wide toe box and mid-foot fit. My favorite trail shoes I've worn out of Mount to Coast T1's and H1's, Saucony Peregrines, and Hoka Speedgoat 5's. They are worth the high price. IMO the cushioning is just about perfect for trails; a mix between soft and responsive that still provides decent feedback underfoot. Stack height is reasonable and the Vibram outsole provides excellent grip on everything from packed dirt, wet and dry rock to mud and everything in between, without being overly aggressive where running on the occasional stretch of pavement isn't punishment. I wouldn't use these on a long road run. But if your trail route has a mix of road/pavement and includes some technical terrain, these are great. Biggest downside to these shoes are that they do NOT drain or breathe well. If you live in a warm/humid climate, maybe save these for fall/winter and early spring if you sweat a lot. I've put 600+ miles on a pair of these and will lace them up tomorrow for a 50k. Cushioning and outsole are a a little worn, but no issues with the upper at all. For size reference, I wear size 10.5 Saucony Rides for road shoes, ordered a size 11 in the norda 001A's and they fit great.
