I've only had the chance to ski on Salomon's new Blank ski once, but I couldn't be more impressed. I'm an owner of the original Blank, and the changes they've made this year are noticeable in the best ways. The ski is stiffer and was an absolute pleasure railing down groomers at high speeds. There is a little less tail rocker, but I didn't find that to be a noticeable difference. The weight of the ski has remained about the same from what I can tell. Conditions the day I skied were not great off-piste, but I still found the Blank performed well in hard-pack crust, moguls, and wind-buffed pow. They allowed me to be quick on my feet and nimble in the trees where turns were tight. Overall, I'd say the updates Salomon made to this ski were all positive, and I'm excited to take them out in some deep conditions that the skis were obviously made for!
Lighter and a little more tail rocker to surf. Great improvement on a fantastic ski. Mount a cm or 2 back
I bought the 192cm during the 2024/25 ski season for Alta powder days. Firstly the ski looks sick! Finally with the top-sheet and base facelift I have got great comments on it every time I take her out. I am running her with some look pivot binding as a resort based ski/sidecountry ski. The ski rips groomers even for a 112 which shows it has a solid poppy wood core. She skis well in powder and is a very playful but can be a lot to handle if you are not ready to turn her in the trees but what do you expect with the 190. The one downside I would say is after a day skiing her from pow to crud is for someone my size (6ft and 190lbs) you begin to feel a lot of the bumps vs skis with Titanol. I think a half sheet of metal under the mounting area would make this easily a daily driver instead more of a pow specific ski. Would buy again just to stare at her in the living room.
I got these after waiting on the 106 and missing out, and I gotta say I’m glad I did. They can rip corduroy, and float on anything. Initially I bought for a trip to CO, as these are a bit wide for the East, but I wouldn’t hesitate to pull them out on any ski day. All the new carbon rods make the ski super lively and fun, while the tip and tail are still soft enough to have fun with them.
The new blank is everything I had hoped for and more, after skiing the previous generation. It obliterates crud and chop, surfs and smears pow effortlessly, and has no business ripping groomers as good as it does. I’m lucky enough to work in a shop and this was by far the best ski I’ve used all season- so good I went out and bought it! 11/10 ski Salomon, nicely done
No matter what the mountain throws at you, this ski is awesome. Windslab, mixed up skied out powder, steeps.... This Blank makes quick work of all of it. So fun on the ground or in the air, you can see why this ski has a cult following with big mountain skiers.
Skiing the 192 - 6'4 235lb skier at Big Sky resort. Crazy fun ski. Very playful and agile for a 112 under foot. Surprising quick turns in bumps, with a very lively snap to them. The added stiffness over past model allowed me to truck through chopped up powder like it was nothing. Charging deep powder on high angle terrain off the tram was the most fun I have ever had on a ski. Great ski ripping groomers too. You could easily make this a one ski quiver if you ski out west. The only condition I have found it less than ideal was very steep and hard surface. Qualifying because my size is certainly a factor - but it had excessive chatter in the tips that forced me to slow down. Summary - amazing ski for everything except big mountain turns on hard snow.
I waited until I rode these ski’s in all conditions to review- luckily in the last few weeks Alta has produced everything from deep pow, crud, and spring like skiing. Im 5’9” 155lbs & advanced (no expert) skiier- mounted recommended on pivot 15’s.I do like my skis slightly short so I chose the 177 & very happy with my choice. I will say im a picky ski chooser depending on the weather so riding these in conditions I wouldnt normally is a little strange to me. We’ll start with the bad: hard crud these arent the choice for me- a 112 underfoot will never be the ski for me in these conditions. The tails seem to want the catch & send you on your way (i did mitigate this slightly by de tuning the tails). Again not the ski for the day for me. I was surprised when I got these on the groomers- I like a ski with a tight radius for groomer skiing. 112 and ~18m radius I wasnt expecting the world but was pleasantly surprised to rip some big fast turns with minimal chatter & confidence inspiring edge hold. Would I ride these on a groomer day normally? No. Will they rip a groomer? Absolutely. Spring like conditions these are a fun ski to slash around they pivot quickly which is something I ~love~ in a ski. Again id go smaller underfoot & tighter radius for my skiing style but they will & can do it with happiness. Where these babies shine is when the snow flies. With 20”+ in the last 24 hours I headed up canyon and strapped these to my legs. Pure greatness alll day long. They float very well, super playful to bounce around, predictable in the air, point & shoot em and they hold you where you want to be with no hesitation. In the chop they still hold together great & arent a bear to point them where you need them to go. These are a ski for someone who ski’s- what I mean by that is if youre going to get lazy with your skiing these may not be a great option for you. Towards the end of the day the skis demanded more from me than I could give them- I should have tapped a couple laps before but its hard when its puking & stoke is high. The graphics are wicked & these receive compliments all day long (my girlfriend is jealous). Overall for my skiing preference id like slightly less tail grab (maybe a little more rocker would help here) but as of right now these are my favorite skis to click into when it snows. Solomon did a wicked job with these & im pleasantly surprised with how they perform (maybe I shouldnt be surprised actually). Cheers to the QST Blank.
Had the opportunity to rip these bad boys for a day and I have nothing but amazing things to say. Ski handles even better then expected in deep snow , practically the ski you dream you can have on a pow day. The ski also rips everywhere else with ease ! No chatter at high speeds , holds an edge like a dream & is stiff enough to always feel in control yet soft enough & playful to have fun on side hits & butters. Probably the nicest ski I’ve ever ridden ! Bonus points for the sickest graphic.
I've skied the original blank as a daily driver the last couple years, and this thing is a totally new weapon for your quiver. The confidence you get stepping into these with the stiffer tail and lower swing weight, it opens up the mountain in a new way to stomp every spin, flip and cliff huck you can find and ride away fast with confidence. the new blank is going to be your new favourite weapon fam.
