Smartwool  Smartloft Hooded Insulated Jacket - Men's

Bought this for commuting in the Pacific Northwest. Fit is good (snug), lightweight, packs well. Would give 5 stars but not sure how the zippers will hold up, and not fond of the hood cord.

Nice jacket, the black is a true black and not the charcoal as shown in the photos. both shell materials are the same black. This is perfect for cool mornings (45F or higher) with no more than a light wind. High quality and nice cut. What you'd expect from Smartwool. Male 5'11'' 195 pounds size L, with room to spare

I really like this jacket. It looks great, breathes well, and moves well. It is really unusual for me to find a jacket, even with spandex, that doesn’t bind under my arms because of my wide chest. This just works. It is the perfect weight for my high desert living. I’ve taken it down into the upper thirties with a breeze with a midweight base layer.

Easy to wear, warm, light, stylish… enough for cold weather especially if worn with a vest.

Comfortable, cut to cover my butt making it warm but not suitable for running or other active / high output activities. The merino panels are good heat regulators, but not suited for rain or windy conditions. I like this as a casual jacket for 10 to -5 deg C days. The hood fit is excellent and the jacket packs to be reasonable small. It's also a fine jacket for post running, skiing or working out. The thumb holes are good, though I find the forearms to be a bit tight, especially over long sleeves.

Great as an every-day layer in cooler weather. Not a winter jacket, but good for x-country skiing/ snowshoeing and as part of a layer system. However, sleeves are definitely tight. Very little room for layers beneath, or if you have big forearms you might find it uncomfortable. No waist-adjustment option, but generally fits close to the body. I'm 6'2 and 170 lbs, it fits close but not restrictive everywhere but the forearms, which I wish were wider. Well-designed otherwise.

I use this as a midlayer on ski days and an everyday jacket. I also use this as my Skinning / Touring jacket when the weather permits. I bought this to replace my well used jacket that this replaces. Couple of things that I like better with my older jacket is that it has 2 big inside pockets and an outside zip chest pocket. This new jacket doesn't have the inner pockets and the chest zip pocket is now located on the inside.

Bought this as a stand alone jacket for cool weather and an additional layer for cold weather. I absolutely love it!! Fit and Finish is top notch. the black is very much a black, rather than a charcoal or grey. I'm just a hair under 6 foot tall, 195 pounds with a 42 inch chest and a 34 inch waist with a donut shaped belly. the large fits well with a little room underneath for an additional layer as needed.

Bought this jacket for my husband. He's 6'2"", 245 lbs. , purchased XXL in the green. He loves the size and weight of the jacket. It fits close yet is roomy enought to wear light layering under. The only slight complaint he has is the cuffs are too big so if he is not using the thumb holes, the sleeves fall down over his hands. I will be adding a tuck to the bottom of the sleeve to prevent this.
