Defect or poor built
I purchased this item from REI, and while refilling it at U-Haul, I discovered that one of the cylinders was leaking. I found that the cylinder gasket had come off. I attempted to reattach the gasket and reconnect it to the Tap Rack, but I was unable to secure it, and the gasket detached again. I contacted REI, and they agreed to exchange the item. I bought it at a discounted price during the Labor Day sale. But, since it's already filled with propane, I cannot ship it back for an exchange and have to drive 25 miles to return it in-store. This situation has become quite inconvenient, negating the savings I initially enjoyed with my purchase. It's a good setup, and I hope Ignik will improve its quality control. Let's see how it goes in the next few years.
A beginning to an end of the green bottle waste.
This product is awesome! It pays for itself in short time and is safe and ready to go. I know there's a few hacks out there to DIY refills that are potentially unsafe and unpredictable. This system, and all 4 bottles are DOT certified for 10 to 12 years of use and so easy to refill. Be warned though, you cannot refill the standard green bottles with this system, but you will not need to replace the Ignik bottles for at least a decade. I for one feel so much better knowing I'm not contributing to the tens of thousands of bottles ending up in landfills every summer. :)
Refilling is the way to go
Finally! Why hasn't anyone done this before!? I get sick every time I throw a green tank away. This is such a cool solution, because let's face it, there is no way I'm going to try and fill these up at home. So excited about this
Cool to see someting new!
Really cool idea. The little 1-lb options nowadays are crazy expensive. I thought I might have trouble filling this up, but so far so good. I does take a little bit of elbow grease to get on and off, but I think thats good. better than loose. I look forward to filling it up again.
great product and game changer
Arrived yesterday and filled today. Zero issues. All the filler has to do is open one of the bleed valves and shouldn’t take too long. 1 gallon gets all (4) cans filled at a fraction of the cost.
Great idea hard to put into practice.
Having this small propane tank is amazing dosent weigh much is super portable with its case but the only hard part is the refilling. I went to three different places before finally getting it filled on the 4th try conventional refill places are to high pressure and activate the fill valve and it gets stuck and when I say stuck not even smacking it on the ground as they recommend got it down. Just have some patience talk to the refilled explain to them that they need to go SLOWWWWWWW when filling other then that it’s a great idea great product.
A good idea
This is a simple product but one that is really appreciated. This well built case holds my bottles securely and safely. I grabbed a few of these as they’re great for general storage for my other propane pounders (which are being transitioned to the Ignik green bottles BTW) when I’m not on the road.
ignik fire can case
The ignik fire can case is awesome fire can fit in it perfectly and has a pouch for accessories like the ignik lighter, gas hoses and anything else you need with your fire can this thing is very well built and should last a lifetime. I love it thanks ignik you did it again!!!
Just got it filled and Oi am impressed thus far.
Interesting product and appears to be top quality and well thought out, as per everything Ignik! I have a fire pit, and a heater running off a one gallon steel and 4 gal fiberglass tank. Cheapo barbecue and a lantern will use the tap rack.
Such a unique product!!
We have used this on many canoe and car camping trips and love it!! We often camp where there's Poison Ivy and this prevents me from walking around in the woods in search of wood. It burns very clean and the moon rocks are very light, adding minimal weight to the stove. On a fairly low flame setting, I'd say we get around 8 hours of burn time from the 5# tank. I wish Ignik would build a collapsible Heat Delfector that could attach to the top. The bulk of the heat goes straight up and a deflector lid(like the one Solo stove makes) would allow you to direct the heat more outward. We have a Big Agnes screen shelter with a tall roof and use our Ignik stove inside the shelter...keeping the stove on low flame means the roof of the shelter doesn't even get warm So it's safe as long as you use common sense. I also wish the flame dial had a little more micro-adjust to it. While it's not a big deal, sometimes I turn it just a little tiny bit and the flame goes up a bunch. These are just nitpicks and suggestions, overall it's an amazing stove and provides a new level of camp comfort!
