First the negative - The first Alps Mountaineering Acropolis 3 I purchased was poorly made, fly did not fit, the cross pole was ~1.5" too short so the fly would not properly attach and over a not-very-long time pole will rub through. It also leaked, just slightly, but a leak that dripped down the door from the improper fly/cross pole attachment point. Spoke with Alps Mountaineering and was told cross pole is color coded to attach properly. It was not, and there is seemingly absolutely no need. Was told the cross pole length is supposed to be 2" shorter than the already too short pole with no color code at each end tip that tent came with?? Cross pole being too short causes tent to sag at one door from the slack it causes. And fly does not fit properly and will quickly rub through as a result. But... I loved the space. It also blew and rained a couple days and pitch stayed solid when guyed out, despite the faulty engineering. So I returned to REI and ordered another. Mistakes happen. Exact. Same. Issues. Would not recommend tent, or company. One tent failing in construction and quality control is understandable. A second tent failing in exactly the same way is incompetence. Unless I'm just really dumb and don't understand how to assemble.
My wife and I use this for a three day backpacking trip. We stayed dry the whole time, though there was not much rain. The set up was easy, it breathes very well, and it’s very spacious for a three person tent.
