I followed the advice of previous reviewers and ordered a size up. After wearing it for a day, I can confirm a large feels tight on a medium frame. I’m not sure if I’ll be keeping this, which is disappointing because I really appreciate the quality of smartwool, but this is ooooh so snug.
This is the fourth (maybe third) one of these I have purchased. They all have suited my needs superbly, and appear to be well-made for the long haul.
I purchased this bra about 6 months after pacemaker surgery in the hope of finding something comfortable enough to wear. I’d been having huge amounts of trouble tolerating a bra ever since the surgery, with both pressure and pulling on the pacemaker side being uncomfortable problems. Since I live an active lifestyle, not having a sports bra comfortable enough to wear was a big blow to my morale. This bra successfully got me fitted up to be active again – I’ve found it comfortable enough to wear all day and have used it as both a sports bra and an everyday bra. Since right now I’m using it for so many purposes, it’s a plus that it’s so odor resistant! It has ended up being what I think of as a sort of “therapy” bra, which I do mean as a compliment. If a bra is good enough to work for those purposes, it’s also very well equipped to work for all the usual daily needs of a sports bra! I will absolutely continue to use this bra well beyond my full pacemaker recovery and would certainly buy it again. Everyone seems to have different size issues (we all have different bodies, so makes sense!). For me, I measured as a medium but decided to order up a size so that I could give myself a bit of forgiving room due to the pacemaker site sensitivity. Thank goodness I did, because even the large seemed snug – even without my pacemaker sensitivity issues, I don’t think I’d have wanted to go any smaller. If I’d ordered the medium, I’d have likely needed to return it. I have a large chest but a small frame, so I was a bit surprised that I needed the large. So, that was my size experience.
