super-fussy lacing scheme
The laces wrap almost halfway around the upper boot, and the eyelets are webbing rather than slick metal eyelets. This seems to cause excessive friction between the laces and the boot. I had to pick at the laces with my fingernails to tighten or loosen them, which was especially difficult with cold hands. The fit was excellent, super-comfy, and the boots are quite light. I don’t think they kept my feet much warmer than my regular uninsulated boots. I have had many pairs of Merrell boots and shoes, and they are by far my favorite brand for fit, durability and function. This lacing system is a deal-killer for me though, and I’ve returned the boots.

Merrill Thermo chill 3
This boot is comfortable and warm. I shoveled snow off and on all day to day and went for a walk and I was quite pleased.
Europe for 3 Weeks
I bought these to backpack across Europe in the winter for 3 weeks. They were the only shoes that I brought. I would recommend them and endorse. My feet didn't once hurt or get blisters and I walked alot. The only one issue was that at the end of my trip the temperature was warm at 50 degrees and I was sweating aggressively. Also I normally buy a size 12 but needed a 13 with these. Not an issue in my book but keep that in mind if your buying without trying
Great Winter Hiking Boots
I've had these for a few years now, and they've held up fine. These are my go-to winter footwear for hiking and anytime I'll be outside below freezing. With warm wool blend socks I was comfortable standing outside for 2 hours in 10 degrees F. These size 12 boots are super comfortable for my wider than average size 12 feet, not heavy or cumbersome hiking in rugged terrain. I would take them backpacking, but I don't do winter camping.
Great quality, functionality, and value.
Excedingly pleased. As comfortable as the better athletic shoes, good grip in snow and ice, warm, nice looking, true to size, and great quality for the cost.
GREAT SHOES
I love the way these boots/shoes lean forward in the upper part of the boot and make a really comfortable fit for me and hopefully you!
Warm and comfortable winter boot
I've worn these about a week now, in cold, snow, icy conditions. Very comfortable, good grip on snow and ice and very warm in 10 degree F weather. One complaint is that the laces are too short by at least 5 inches, making it difficult to tie--I had to bypass one pair of eyelets to resolve this.
