Car replacement
Excellent bike. I had few owned 3-4 cargo bikes to carry kids over the past 10+ years. As the kids get older we don’t need a front-loading bike as much so have decided on a long tail and went with the term GSD. As a mom, I can carry two average-sized elementary school children or a single older middle school child without any difficulty. Our longest rides have been approximately ~10 miles and those have been easy and no worries that the battery life would not last. My biggest complaint is that REI does not sell the accessories that I needed to carry older kids or the front rack. I had to purchase those from elsewhere.
Great ride, features and accessories
I trialed two other cargo bikes before buying / keeping the P00. The P00 was the biggest investment but think it provides more. The bike is very stable/easy to maneuver at low speeds, with and without two kids on the back, and maintains that stability at full speed; the front shock is nice for absorbing road bumps. Versus non-Tern brands, the kids accessories are great, especially like the seat-belt, handlebars, and wide/stable/folding foot rests that are the best I’ve seen. Within the GSD family, two features are big pro’s for the P00 from my riding. The continuously variable transmission with the twist of the handle is less work/less distraction and more precise than working thru gears, especially with all the stop/goes in city riding. That, plus the belt drive which is clean and quiet, and advertised as more durable. I’ve found these upgrades to add a lot to the day-to-day enjoyment.
