Finisterre  Basset Trousers - Men's

I paid for these pants $165 (with our local sale tax) and was expecting to buy a pair of pants to last me for years to come considering how expensive they are. 3 days after purchasing these pants, I took a long road trip from Seattle to Tucson and back. By the time I was back home to Seattle, the pants started disintegrating. A rivet from a back pocket fall off and poorly finished (or better described "unfinished") treads were sticking out from multiple corners. As someone born in early 70s and who lived through the 80s and 90s when clothing quality was far far better and more durable, I would grade these pants "waste of money" since they are disintegrating after a few days. Luckily I got these pants in REI, so I am returning them for a store credit, so I can buy something sturdier. These pants fit great and have a great potential, but obviously the company does not want to invest in QC department. No way these pants would pass any decent QC test when it comes to quality. If you are still considering buying these pants, I would advice you to try them in the store and pull back pockets hard to test if the rivets are strong or not. Also, reverse them and see how many long treads are sticking out.

I’m on my second wear and one of the rivets fell out! I’ve never had a rivet fall out even on a cheap pair of off-brand jeans! I like the material and design, but I got these on 1.16, it’s now 1.28 and so, seeing another reviewer had a similar issue, so I’m going to make a return.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought these to go walking in rough terrain but also use them as smart casual.They’re tough and hard wearing but also very smart.Good fit on the waist and plenty of room in the legs for climbing and honestly and just love them.Soon as I saw them I hoped they’d fit me,beautiful material to the touch and deep pockets.Was an impulse buy as I only was out for some milk but as soon as I saw these I just knew I had to have them.I got then in 30R.Definitely recommend if you’re after smart rugged trousers.Well done finisterre!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Firstly, I think the waist is too small and the leg is too long. I'm almost always a 36" waist and these are a snug fit and I have to fold the bottom hems up, just an inch or so, so that they don't drag. But, I need to lose a few pounds and the trousers look fine with a turn-up. So why the 5-star review? Because they're the best pair of trousers I've had. The quality and the style are pretty much "my" perfect and I wish every pair of trousers in my wardrobe were these trousers. It's possible they will be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these trousers knowing they would be to wide at the bottom for my preference, got them tapered and they are now the perfect trouser, great quality, look slick can wear them when dressing down or up, very versatile. I was looking for the Koerner trousers in black that I had before but they are no longer available. Very happy with these as an alternative although it would be great if the black Koerner come back at some point too! :)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These trousers have become a favourite. They are very easy wearing, comfortable and a true fit. Superbly practical with the design. Seems tough and hard wearing which will keep them in regular use as work trousers and for days out and about. Stylish and comfortable without being either too formal or too casual. The in-between is very helpful for everyday wearing. Recommended!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second pair of Basset Utility Trousers - i just had to get a second pair, as the first grey pair became my absolute favourite trousers to wear. Comfortable, durable, great pocket space, and seamlessly goes from dog walks in the woods, to coffee with friends around town, to working in the garden, to sitting at my laptop. Genuinely would buy a pair in every colour.

However, Finisterre have changed them to a wider fit, without explaining this on their website (hence my deduction of a star). Therefore I took them to a clothing alterations shop & had them taken in. They are made of cotton canvas material & are quite hard wearing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought these for my husband and he's worn them constantly since he got them! They are really well made, in a lovely heavy fabric. The sort of trousers that look smart enough to go out in but are equally at home when he's messing around with boats. I can see we will be needing to buy another pair at this rate!
