Great When They Work, But…
The Luci Solar String Lights are wonderful when they work, but that’s probably only going to be one season, maybe two if you’re lucky. I’ve purchased five different sets, three having completely died on me after one camping season. The other two were traded in through REI’s warranty program. Thus, if you’re looking for a product that you’re only going to use for one camping season, this is probably your product. However, if you would like to purchase a product that lasts more than one camping season, do not spend your money on this. The only reason I didn’t give one star is because when the lights work that first season, they’re super cool.
Cheerful
These days when campfires are often not allowed, these lights bring cheer and warmth.
Junk
Less than 1 light diode per foot of cable- poor output under the best of conditions. Held maybe 20 minutes of juice to power the lights on the low setting, after fully charging using an outlet. Tried to use the solar charging capability to recharge a battery booster pack; 6 hours in full sun brought charge from 12% to 14%.
This is a great piece of gear!
We’ve been using this light as a core component of our camp rig for 5 years now. It’s a brilliant piece of kit!
Solidly built light, lights are super bright and adjustable and battery life is excellent, a no brained at the current price.
Easy to use compact light string
The concept is nice. Solar powered light string contained within one plastic container. Claims 15 hours of light which I did not test the duration. Pros: self contained light string, adjustable "soft lighting" worked well under my Alcove. Cons: no automatic light sensor so lights are on or off. I like to use solar lights while tent camping at a festivals and seeing my lights helps me find my tent and not struggle to turn on lighting when we return
Awesome, but the solar doesn't seem to work
I'm not sure if this is working. I left it outside to charge, but it didn’t. After camping, I had to charge it at home. The only reason I bought this was because of the solar feature. This is actually my second time purchasing it. The first one only lasted a few months because my dog destroyed it—he got tangled in the string while running around. I thought maybe that one was defective, so I bought another. But I’m still having the same issue. The light and everything else are great, but the solar charging just doesn’t seem to work.
nice lights!
This was so great for our family camping trip. The battery lasted a long time. And the lights have multiple settings so it can get brighter. Very good string lights!
I’ve owned three of these and all are broken
all three have broken with 6-8 months of owning. They either stop charging, the cord breaks or the lights get glitchy and just strobe.
This rules, I love this
Really great option for lighting tent interior. We have the Wawona 6 tent and the lights fit perfectly through the nylon loops placed along the ceiling. Love how it packs down neatly as well.
