Incredible bag. Lots of room for spare clothes, easy to pack, move and store when you arrive at your cycling destination! The fork stand is great to assemble and disassemble your bike and we used the stand to carry the bikes upright in the back of the van when we arrived (With a homemade add on).
Great case with good protection
I purchased this travel bag mainly for travelling with my gravel bike. The tripod stand is a game changer when dissembling and then re-assembling at the destination. The internal padded panels wrap around the bike frame nicely. The wheels are secured firmly. While I have not removed the rotors and have had no issues, perhaps heed the warning of others. The case is well made and has taken the abuse of baggage handlers with no issues. I have even had airport oversize baggage security agents comment on how nice and tidy everything fits into the case. So far, I am quite pleased with the purchase.
Tokyo trip went smoothly thanks to the RoundTrip
I bought this case for my trip to Tokyo, bringing along my bikepacking setup: a Rodeo Labs Flaanimal with a front rack, basket, drop bars, and 27.5 x 2.1 tires. I chose this case for its sleek and clean design, knowing I’d be navigating through Tokyo’s train stations and busy streets. Everything fit well, with plenty of room for extra items. The included bike stand was a huge help, making disassembly and reassembly much easier. The quick-release system that transfers the bike from the stand into the case is pure genius—simple and efficient. The soft-sided shell is reinforced with plastic shields, giving me confidence that my bike was well-protected. The hard bottom took a beating during the trip, which proved to be an essential feature. The case rolled smoothly and was easy to maneuver. That said, the front wheel "hub cap" popped off right at the start of my trip, which was concerning. I managed to pop it back on, and thankfully it stayed put the rest of the way. Still, the wheels themselves could be more robust—stronger materials and tougher tires would help when rolling over Tokyo’s rougher sidewalks and streets. One improvement I’d suggest is adding a visible reminder near the front wheel to remove it before checking the case at the airport. I could easily see it popping off and getting lost in transit if forgotten. Overall, I was very happy with this case. Its thoughtful design, functionality, and durability made my trip much easier.
Great travel bag for my bike
I've used this bag for several years. I always had to borrow the RoundTrip from a friend, but my bike always arrived safely to the airport destination. I finally bought the RoundTrip and will be excited to use it in a couple weeks. I'll have to travel with the bike in the bag for a section of my trip and then store the bag. I already know it travels well, it's has plenty of handles to lift it in and out of the train and breaks down to a compact size for storage. It has all the protection in the right places. I highly recommend this bag.
Very well thought out!
I bought the Round Trip for a move overseas. Usually I don't fathom bringing my bike when I travel but since I was going to be there a while, I needed to bring it along. The Round Trip made it remarkably easy and the fact that it compresses so small when not in use makes it so much better. I was initially worried about navigating to and through the airport with it, but it rolls so easily that it was a one-hand operation. It has changed my perspective on bringing my bike along on short travel trips!
Game Changer for Bike Travel!
The Tripod in the Thule RoundTrip bike bag is a game-changer! It makes bike assembly incredibly easy and securely holds the frame in place during travel. The tripod folds down for easy storage, and despite being a soft-sided bag, the padding is excellent for protecting the bike. A well-thought-out design that offers both convenience and security—highly recommend for anyone traveling with their bike!
So Easy and Functional
I used my bike bag last week for a trip to California. The bike disassembly and installation in the bag is well-documented, easy to follow and impressive. All the encasing bags and padding protected my bike well and were so easy to use. This is hands down the best bike bag I have ever used!
Excellent product but not for all bikes
Good product made with high quality material. Unfortunately, it is not designed for bike with internal cables. The handle bar cover cannot be installed. I had to cut it in its center.
Great travel bike bag!
Very well done travel bike, easy to travel with (I took a plane and two train and walked for a mile with). Many quality details and easy to assemble.
Perfect balance of protection and portability
I went with this based on the recommendation of a high-end LBS that also organizes European bike vacations. I really wanted to keep the combined weight of bike and bag under 50 pounds so that it didn't incur additional fees, and the Roundtrip leaves a couple of pounds to spare. Thule's pictographs (Thuleglyphs?) are not always the easiest to decrypt, but I only scratched my head on a couple of occasions the first time I used it, and breezed through on the return trip. I would have preferred a padded cover/pocket for the rear derailleur but was able to approximate one using bubble wrap that came with the case. The included work stand is incredibly useful. I had been warned that TSA will open bike cases without exception and that they don't always close them up as they should. Sure enough, TSA left their calling card on each leg, but everything inside was as it should have been. There's just no logical way to close it back up other than the right way. It's so easy to use that I'm contemplating using it for quick trips that allow time for only one ride. The biggest issue I encountered was the variability of "XL" offerings from rideshare services--but we got it to fit in even the smallest SUV that qualifies for that distinction.
