Mammut  Crater Light HS Hooded Jacket - Women's

We bought it because UTMB races require it. It packs well and we often carry it with us in our training in case of cold weather in the mountains. I normally wear size small; I bought small and I can wear it on top of my vest, so it is easy to put on and take off without removing my running vest. It looks nice too. I love it.

This jacket has a beautiful cat and fits really well. However, it does not block rain at all. I wear it in the north west and I haven’t been able to block rain with it for example, if I’m out and about and it’s raining I’ll usually have a damp shirt, and then a completely wet stripe along the front and center where the rain leaks through the zipper. I really wish I could take this back to Mammut and show them how low of quality this jacket really is. I very much so regret buying this jacket. The entire jacket, especially on the inside, gets a swampy dampness. When it’s raining the outside layer becomes crinkly and does not shed water. Also there is no cinching mechanism around the waist. This is OK for lightness, but mind you, water can still get in through the waist. I recognize that this product is for light rain, but honestly, it can’t even handle that even though the description clearly claims it does. I don’t love being out in the rain, but sometimes it just hits and this jacket is a mega letdown in those times.
