Great design! Good Warmth!
Great for keeping warmth under a helmet either for skiing or snowmobiling in Yellowstone. Love the fact that you can raise and lower the chin section for speaking and / or keeping warm riding. It's long enough to cover the neck and keep heat in! It also doesn't get as damp as the fuzzy Balaclava's. That's a big positive when your skiing hard and breathing a lot of moist air into it when its 15 degrees outside!
Could be warmer.
Very thin. Not for cold weather at all.
OK if you don't have to breathe
I bought this product to replace the previous REI model. I was disappointed to find that the designers forgot that we have noses. The older model had extra room for the nose with an absorbent inner layer. If you are cycling up steep hills and breathe heavily, the soaking wet fabric sucks into the nasal cavities with each inhalation. If you don't breathe heavily, it's OK. Otherwise seems to be well made.
good enough for -10f fat biking
Kept my face warm during -10f fat biking. It did get wet when I was using it over my nose when the wind got bad but I was warm and happy. When the temp is above 10f this is amazing because you don't need to wear it over your mouth or nose.
