Features

  • Fully openable design allows this harness to be put on while wearing crampons or skis
  • Leg loop buckles are securely held in place and have been optimized to make them easier to use with gloves
  • 4 gear loops; front 2 loops are partially overmolded, making them stiff and easier to clip, yet supple when worn under a backpack waistbelt or packed away
  • Rear haul loop adds functionality for trailing a tag line or storing seldom-needed gear, like a small knife, quick link and webbing to clean up belay stations when necessary
  • 4 slots for adding ice screw clippers and carabiners make it possible to rack a large quantity of screws or sort them by length for easier access
  • 1 elastic loop on each leg loop serves to hold screws in place, making it easy and quick to access them when needed, yet keeping them silent when moving (screws not included)
  • Highly abrasion-resistant UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) webbing is used throughout to extend the life of the harness
  • Monofilament mesh throughout the harness is highly air-permeable, making it more comfortable on warmer days or during high-exertion ascents
  • Harness is highly hydrophobic, meaning it won't hold moisture and dries extremely quickly when wet
  • Variable-width waistbelt is slim yet comfortable as it disperses pressure over a larger surface area when you're hanging in the harness
  • Magic Ring belay loop makes using this harness nearly identical to normal climbing harnesses for both belaying and rappelling
  • Rear elastics are removable via a small buckle for when nature calls
  • Certified to CE EN 12277, UIAA 105 standards

Amazing harness for any application

Used reference size on website worked out fine, amazing harness for mobility on most terrian. Great for interdisciplinary use, I've personally used it for indoor and outdoor rock climbing, mountaineering, vertical ice and some mixed terrain. Not the most comfortable when rappelling down but to be expected although still feels fine when being belayed. While something may be better in an individual discipline, not sure anything beats it in all around use.

Wrong measurement on Blue Ice's Size Chart

Size small Choucas Pro Harness: Blue Ice’s sizing chart shows 68cm for the smaller end of the waist range. The measurement I get is 74cm (smallest we got after multiple measurements by two people). Leg lower range from their chart is 48cm. The harness received is 54cm for the smallest measurement (with out stretching it at all). This is my second harness I’ve purchased. The medium size was not accurate either based on the provided size chart from Blue Ice and was also too big. The Cuesta four season harness I purchased also has the same issue. It is larger than the measurements provided.

Great ultralight harness - size down!

I bought this for adventure racing where we sometimes need to carry climbing gear for an extended time. It's extremely light and compact and works great for short climbs/rappels. I suggest sizing down: my measurements (31" waist, 22.5" leg) puts me in right in the middle of a size M according to the size chart, but it was too big in the waist for me, so I exchanged for a S.

Size medium measures larger than the sizing chart

TOO BIG The size medium harness I received is not the measurement the sizing chart shows. Waist is at least 78cm, not 74cm. Leg loops are at least 59cm, not 52cm.

Light, Comfortable and Cheap

Skip the Petzl Sitta or Whisper. Blue Ice is playing to win here. That said, Peztl’s Caritools sit better on this harness than BD’s Ice Clippers.
