Perfect for wearing under a leather overmitt
Decent. Depends on what you want these for. I plan to wear them inserted into leather or cordura shells. They are tightly knit but not as thick as my old ragg mittens.
I would buy these mittens again
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are great mittens for running. Often mittens are too hot for running. I like the merino wool. My skin gets so irritated by other types of wool, but there is no irritation with merino wool. I like that they can be machine washed. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because they are a little narrow relative to length. I bought size small and I have tiny hands for an adult. They still worked out for me and I will purchase another pair because it is difficult to find a good pair of running mittens. #sweepstakes
Great for bicycling
I wear these for biking. Commuting, bikepacking, road riding, whatever. I slip on REI Minimalist Gore-Tex over-mitts when it's really raining or if I need more warmth. The Knit Mitts fit better and are warmer than full finger gloves, in my experience. My fingers figured out the brifters, trigger shifters, thumb shifters, and brakes on all my bikes just about instantly. My first pair survived a ton of abuse. This new pair has a touch-screen pad on the thumb. It wasn't a selling point for me, but it is coming in handy.
What a great find
I love these mittens. I bought them for running in cold weather and find I grab them for everything. They are thin, but so warm. I wear them in 15 degree weather with wind and they keep my hands perfectly warm. I even find when I am running in 25 degree weather I have to take them off after 30 minutes or so because my hands are a little too warm! I do not like to be cold and am almost always cold in the winter. I also love that the small actually fits my hands and isn't too floppy or too tight. I am a super fan.
Love these mittens!
Love these mittens! I live in NC and these are perfect for our mild winters. I was out shoveling snow today and built a snowman and my hands did not get cold when the mittens got wet. Temp is 35 degrees out today…..
"Smartwool" only 1% wool
The name "smartwool" misleading - turns out only 1% wool in the product. An ok mitten for mild weather.
Thumbs Up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well made and keeps my hands warm when I need a little extra warmth on cold day runs. The merino wool is comfortable, not itchy and drys quick. These also wash well and did not shrink much in the dryer. I sized down one size based on other reviews saying that they fit large and it worked for me. I have run in them a dozen or so time and they are showing zero signs of wear yet. These are well made, durable good mittens. #sweepstakes
Extremely low quality
Bought this pair in Gray to replace my striped mittens from SmartWool that got a hole in them that I purchased a few years ago. . . Unfortunately these are nowhere near the same quality, They are ridiculously thin and not at all warm, and the thumb that they say is smartphone able doesn't work either. It's sad when brands quality starts to go down, makes me question if I will be purchasing from this brand in the future.
Thumbs Up
Bought these mittens for chilly day runs when I need a little extra warmth. They fit good and are well constructed. I have used them a dozen or so times so far and they are holding up great. They do there job well and keep my hands warm. I do not normally like wearing gloves/mittens of any sort, but do not mind using these. Also should note they do run a little large.
Great for warmth, be careful of unraveling
I bought these wool mittens for running outdoors during the winter (18-30 degrees), and I must say that they keep my hands INCREDIBLY warm even though they're really thin, and for that I love them. However, after wearing them maybe 5 times, the thumb on the right glove is already unraveling and I'm super bummed, that's why I only gave them 3 stars.
