Smartwool  Intraknit Thermal Merino Base Layer Hoodie - Men's

This wool hoodie fits me well and is comfortable. It's great for high intensity outdoor activities and has a functional hood and thumbholes that are useful in the shoulder season when you almost need a hat or gloves. Athletic fit, comfortable, and a nice piece. Probably more for the hardcore endurance athlete but if you like it it works for anyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I really enjoy the intraknit thermal hoodie. It's very comfortable and the fit is great (I'm 6'3, 215 lbs wearing an XL). The different material thicknesses in different zones of the hoodie allow it to be warm and breathable in high output scenarios. I haven't had this out ski touring or in extremely cold weather yet, but on some strenuous hikes and a couple of longer mountain bike rides in the low 40's, it has been a great layer both under a windbreaker and as a standalone. I'll be curious to see how it wicks moisture with the thicker material zones vs the thinner spots in cold temps. It's also worth noting that it doesn't get too smelly during high output activities thanks to the merino wool blend. My one nitpick is that I have a love hate with the hood. The material is nice, and works really great when worn by itself. But, there is too much material around the neck to make the balaclava style. I think if the face opening was a little bigger and came down over the forehead more and less from the chest it would make the fit feel more free and not too bunched around your neck (especially under other layers). Overall this is a really great layer and I'm stoked to put it through it's paces this ski season! Smartwool gave me this product to try for free in exchange for my honest review.

I don't review products often but I have had lots of Smartwool stuff and always been impressed so her goes: So far this garment is awsome. The wieght allows it to be worn as a primary layer or under a shell. Medium fits me perfectly at 70" and 170 lbs with a light liner underneath. The hood fits tight when in use, maybe too tight, we'll see. after I break it in. It also covers the chin and mouth area when pulled up. It could use a chest pocket. I will be using it during a golf trip toi N Ireland with temps in the 50's and 60' with wind and rain; part of. a layering system I'm bringing.

great layer and sweat shirt style base/midlayer. Wore this on a high output skimo race. was the perfect layer for me. very happy with the way it performed and fit and the warmth/breathability. love the intraknit line. slowly adding more to my rotation.

Exactly what I was looking for. Comfort and warmth for any kind of walking or running in cold weather. Particularly like the hooded feature that , is part of the garment. When warn up it offers complete comfort and warmth for you head, ears and neck. When warn down it protects the back of your neck from the elements

This item was a gift, turned out as a must have. Temps are severely dropping 2026-CT. Lots of snow, wind and ice. Item fits snug as expected, soft, warm, comfortable.

Everything about the product was great, except for the balaclava portion. It is too small to be comfortably worn under the mouth. I like to move my balaclava up and down over my mouth depending on the weather while skiing, and this just doesn't work well with this design. The balaclava portion really should be hinged. Everything else about it is great, but this was a dealbreaker for me.

This is my favorite brand. This model is the best. It has a high collar that immediately turns into a hood. It's very comfortable. The neck is always covered. The elbows are very well designed. They have special fabric inserted in them, so the elbows don't stretch out. I highly recommend it.

I use this as a base layer on the mountain teaching skiing, and just on its own running when the temperatures are 35 or below. It feels super good, and the thumb holes and hood are beautifully designed. I'm buying another. It just feels like the best piece I own.

The good. -It's very well made. -The design is great. The bad. -It's very very uncomfortable and not soft AT ALL in the places with polyester. -It's a thermal hoodie but not 100% merino and you can FEEL the polyester. The front of the hoodie feels like a wetsuit.
