Black Diamond  GridTech Storm Hood Gloves

I am very interested in these gloves and think they may end up being great, but having ordered them based on the sizing guidelines provided, the inner glove fits great, and the upper part of the hood fits great, but the hood ends quite far above my wrist on the palm side (see picture, where the grey part of the inner glove simply cannot be covered by the hood). There's no way my hands won't get soaking wet! Looking closer at the pictures on the website now I see that even there the palm side of the hood does end a bit high (not going all the way to the wrist). I'm going to return for a larger size and hope that the palmar coverage of the hood is adequate if I size up the whole thing. I'm really not clear on why they would make the palm side so short.

I had the previous version and it was my all time favorite glove! I was very excited to get the new waterproof version but unfortunately the usability has been ruined by the watch opening. The watch spot is a neat idea but it doesn't line up with my watch and it has now made the mitt pocket way too small and extremely difficult to use while moving. If you add any kind of dampness or cold fingers to that equation it makes it even harder. Sometimes the mitt pocket gets twisted up around the watch opening and becomes completely useless. I think these gloves are just going to live in my car as a backup glove. Super bummed.

I love these gloves! I had bought a pair of black diamond gloves similar to this a few years ago and lost them. Tried other brands didn’t love them as much. My only issue is that I have very bad arthritis in my hands and the wrist cuff is a little bit tight. Not too tight but tight for a person with arthritic hands to squeeze through however, it’s not a dealbreaker because it’s not super Duper tight, but it’s a little tight. I wish the blue over mitts had a bigger space to hide away in because it’s bulky again not a dealbreaker. They’re really nice looking and you can be a lefty or righty and still use your phone because there are fingertips on both gloves to utilize your phone or whatever.

I love these gloves. The grid-fleece keeps me warm when it's cold but breathes a bit when I'm heating up. The hood is more windproof than other convertable gloves. I've been biking in these (20-35 degrees F), but I'll nordic ski and run in them when temps drop a bit more (probably from 0 to 20degF). The watch hole is unneeded but doesn't really hurt the gloves a ton for me.

Right hand had left handed cover, started the warranty process to get replacements. Quality otherwise seems to be great!

I live in the PNW and run 30-40 miles a week through the winter. These gloves have turned into a daily driver this winter for me. They will get sweaty/wet if it’s raining and you’re running for 30+ min, but in my mind that’s not the point. They keep my hands warm until my circulation can actually do its job. Then I pull the mitts off and have great run. They have also been awesome on some cold windy days where you don’t want ton of insulation but normal fleece gloves don’t do anything. If you plan on holding things with the mittens on maybe size up.

I purchased these in addition to a pair of overmitts. I like the convertible option but they could use a bit more stretch to the mitten part of the glove. It’s challenging at times to take on and off. Personally, I should’ve sized up. I have small hands and purchased an XS when I should have went with the S or M so that I could use the watch cutout and they’d be easier to take on and off. I didn’t want to return/exchange bc it seemed like a hassle.

Pros: - convertible, waterproof cover. Best waterproof solution I’ve found for thru-hiking. - surprisingly warm. Cons: - Each glove needs two tab pulls. One on the glove wrist to pull it on. A second tab to pull the cover up. You loose dexterity when you have the cover over the fingers, so you need a tab to grab to pull the cover down.

I love these gloves! They are soft and warm on the inside with a waterproof hood that covers the whole front and back of your entire hand, and when you don’t want it, can be stored up in the wrist. I have been stuck in some crazy weather on mountains with the wrong gloves and it’s nice to finally have something warm and waterproof!

Got these at the recommendation of a friend and they’ve been a great addition to winter running gear. The gloves themselves are warmer than I expected and the whole-hand cover (thumb included) helps you stay warm even in windy conditions. Haven’t yet had the opportunity to wear in the rain, so can’t speak to weatherproof capacity.
