Solid, Minimal Ski Touring and Travel Bag

As of the time of this review I haven’t used the bag, but since it’s not quite ski season where I live and given that the listing is missing pictures of the front compartment of the bag I figured I would write a review and post some pictures and then update this review after some use. Fit is subjective but overall the bag seems to fit me well and is comfortable when trying around the house, we’ll see how it holds up long term. The Quintic 28 has 3 main pockets/compartments: The Avy tools pocket found in the front with orange-red pulls on the zippers, a top stash pocket on the bag, and the main large compartment accessible only by the back panel. The Avy tools pocket is well sized with room for a shovel, probe and other snow tools if desired. The zipper on it opens in a J zip with one of the compression straps blocking the zip until it’s unbuckled. The top compression strap has 2 buckles on it so it can be easily accessed. (The compression strap buckles are well designed, with large over moulded presses so they could be undone with gloves). The Avy tools pocket on the front of the bag shares a wall with the main compartment so if the bag is filled in the main compartment it would push into the avy tools pocket, shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re overpacking this bag. The top stash pocket has an aqua-guard zipper which is appreciated for keeping those items dry. The top pocket is large enough for a pair of ski googles and a few other items, it would have been nice if this pocket was lined to prevent scratching. There is a secondary zipped pocket in the top pocket that has a key clip and is where the helmet holder is stored when this bag comes from the factory. The last main compartment is only accessible via the back panel. For me personally I don’t mind only having access via a back panel but this might be a dealbreaker for some. Overall it’s a large open space, with a small zipped pocket on the back panel itself. The back panel is split in the middle so it can be partially opened instead of unzipping all the way. Overall the Quintic 28 feels like a fairly well designed, but stripped back, ski touring bag. While lacking many features found on other ski bags in a similar price range (Quick stash pocket for crampons or skins, hydration compatibility and no water bottle pockets inside or out) this bag keeps its features limited to the bare minimum. Overall whiles this bag lacks some of the other features I find that those missing features make it an attractive bag for my use cases. A streamlined good looking bag that has just what I want for simple ski tours and that can pull double duty as a travel bag.

Top Rucksack!!!
