I recently purchased these boots, At first I thought I would have to send them back because they caused blisters on the back of my heels. But I liked that they were light weight and had sticky souls for scrambling so I stuck with them, It took about 20 miles but I got them broke in to my feet. I have scrambled up rocks , walked through mud and water, and I like them no leaks my feet aren't tired so I am glad I stuck with them.
This is my third Vasque hiking boot, and by far the most comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the cushioned sole as the 2 older boots were quite firm. The tread is a nice design and seem so shed mud better than most other boots. They run a bit warm as there is no ventilation other than the tongue so probably not suitable for Colorado summers for me, I like to keep my feet cool. I'm a size 12.5 US so had to purchase the 13 which is a little too large, but a pair of thick socks makes the fit perfect.
I wear a size 14 mens shoe and have a low/flatter arch and narrower foot. I tried in mens size 14, both the Vasque Horizon Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot and the Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots. The Vasque was more comfortable from the first time I tried it on. The Moab was shorter in length (even though it was also size 14). Plus it was positioning my foot so that when I was standing, I felt like I was tipping forward. I wore the Vasque nearly every day on a 12-day trip to Alaska including Denali National Park. I hiked through through small streams, on a dry rocky river bed, up steep mountains with tundra and loose rocks, and on top of snow and ice. I found the traction and grip are amazing. I did not slip once even on loose gravel going up a mountain. They are waterproof up to where the laces begin. And they required no break in time for me. I hit the trails wtihout wearing them more than 5 minutes to try them on. I know most people like the Moab's but these worked better for me.
Trail slippers? Light enough, flexible, fit well. 4th pair of Vasques - quite lighter and more day hike friendly than the long trek, hike over any terrain St. Elias boots I have.
My husband loves these boots! They are light & good for rough trails. Nice fit for him, too!
It’s a beautiful pair of boots but it’s made half size narrow. Too snug around my toes. REI is out of 9.5 size and I went ahead to buy the Merrell. I ordered it the same size 9. Sale associate told me Vasque is true to size. My shoe width is only D.
It seemed risky to buy hiking boots online, but these are amazing. I went into the store and a sales associate measured my feet and made a suggestion for which size, and they fit perfectly. Amazing value for the price, super comfortable, great shoe for an occasional hiker.
Great hiking shoe very light liked so much bought a second pair
