The PreCip excels in the fit, rain protection and breathability departments. I also love that it's lightweight and packs away easily. The only downfall is the lining began flaking after only a couple season of light use. I really expected to get more use out of it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replacement for 10 year old precip jacket. Did the job well waterproof and wind proof. Wish they had kept the zipped pocket in the sleeve but overall very good buy. I use for hiking as top layer. Recently in Zion , Bryce (November) in 20/30 F weather
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very comfortable, very thin and lightweight, excellent coverage and waterproof capabilities. Underarm vents are great for breathability. The hood adjusts well in two directions, and rolls up into the collar if you prefer the use of a rain hat. The zipper pulls on the pockets and vents are really bad, small and metal only. They are hard to find and grab, especially if wet. I replaced them with aftermarket high-visibility u-shaped pulls, and it makes the jacket perfect.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In a short time the interior began to deteriorate, releasing white particles. In addition, it has completely lost its waterproofness, possibly due to damage to the laminate. The quality of this product does not correspond at all to what Marmot claims to have. Lost money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket about 6 years ago and I wear it constantly. With the hideaway hood, it makes for an excellent windbreaker while on the sidelines for fall and spring sports. I just purchased my 2nd PreCip Jacket since I get so much wear out of it.
Great rain jacket. I finally got a lightweight rain jacket that doesn’t wet out in the first 5 minutes of rain. Previously I bought a Frogg Toggs jacket and was very disappointed. I love the pit zips and taped seams. Very breatheable.
I had a precip jacket for many years which I loved - it just wore out. I wore it in rain. I often wore it in milder winter temps as a shell, with a fleece underneath. The new one is the same size (mens medium), but the sleeves have been made a WHOLE lot slimmer/narrower/tighter for some reason. Which makes the body feel right, and the sleeves feel snug. I'm 5'6" / 150 lbs so the medium shouldn't feel this way on me. I think it might feel TOO tight with a fleece underneath come fall and winter. Maybe mine was just a bad cut but it's noticeable difference. The buyer should at least be aware of that. For rain and as single layer it'll be fine.
Was looking to replace my 10+ version of this jacket and was surprised that the designed remains plagued with the lining delamination. Ironic that "ECO" is in the title as the amount of "nano-particles" emitted should alarm any environmental warrior working at Marmot. Further, to claim this is a "general use", or "daily use" (implying light use only) garment defies logic taking into account the various features. Citing active use as causing abrasion and the subsequent delamination is "poppy-cock", your product and manufacturing processes are substandard. Again, my jacket is more than 10 years old and exhibited the same flaw as newer garments.
Good, dependable, light coat. This is my 3rd Precip in 20 years. I did notice the hanging loop has gotten smaller.
6ft tall, 195lb. Super light, Medium fits perfect. Simple but very functional.
