How to Choose Hiking Boots and Shoes

These approach shoes take on rugged backpacking, 4th-class climbing and water crossings. They're stiff and stable even with a heavy load. Dual-purpose soles smear up slabs and descend softer ground.

I tried on in store and they fit. However, these shoes were an utter disappointment. Despite the shoe specifications mentioning that these shoes are made to prevent blisters, I developed the worst blisters of my life. Due to the construction, there is a heavy seam at the back of the heal that will rub your upper heal no matter how tight you tie them. I went through a set of mole skins and three sets of Dr. Scholls. Buyer beware, this shoe is a lemon on comfort. If comfort is not your thing, then be happy in knowing that they are grippy and waterproof.
This shoes was unfortunately so uncomfortable, went a size bigger due to previous comments about the fitting of the shoes can be too small. Due to the narrow design at the front it was still small fitted even though I had size up. For me unfortunately the shoes was so uncomfortable after 30mins walk my feet began to pulsate and had to take them off to ease my feet. But I will have to say the waterproofing was fantastic, As I find most products say they’re waterproof but they aren’t. This product definitely keeps your feet dry, it’s a shame the product is so uncomfortable to wear.
So far they're comfy and keep my feet dry in the wet dewy grass. I did notice that in the frost the toe box had no traction at all so that's a tad worrisome. Won't be wearing in snow.
I wore my Konseals for the first time yesterday , walking over mixed terrain. Comfort was excellent , traction was excellent. However, waterproofing faulty. I stepped into a boggy area and water immediately seeped in from the top surface of the shoe at the junction of the tongue to the body of the shoe, at about the third lace loop down from the toe. On checking, this area has not been stitched completely and I can push my finger through a hole there. It’s the same on the other shoe. So unfortunately, not waterproof due to faulty stitching.
I've been wearing these shoes for many years for hiking and also everyday use since I walk a lot. I wear orthotics in my shoes to align my feet correctly and I do best with a very solid, firm shoe, which this is. I just ordered my third pair. Most shoes are not comfortable for me but these are perfect.
This shoes are amazing, simply wonderful! They perform really well in wet and slippery terrain. Afterwords just wiped them clean! I bought my usual 6.5 and they fit perfectly. My arch is narrow so they hug my foot just right. Now, thinking about another pair. Btw the green color is beautiful!
First time buying this brand, recommended. Comfortable, keep feet warmth in fall or winter weather, water proof. Will wait for one year to see how’s the qualify of shoes
They are definitely a rigid shoe. Style is lacking but I guess who cares when on a hike to the crag
