Better comfort

The new design and fit are good but very disappointed in the comfort and the Vibram sole. It's the hardest plastic boot or shoe sole I've ever seen. Wishing it was the mega grip type from previous versions. Not sure how this is going to even grip and the tread is very shallow. Seems like it was designed for looks and less comfortable and effective. I do like the top of the shoe and new design features. The bottom half is just disappointing.

Hello there, thanks for sharing your feedback on the Konseal GTX Shoe. We're glad to hear you like the new design and fit, but we're sorry to learn that the comfort and sole didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how important comfort is, especially in footwear, and we’re sorry this was your experience. This shoe was designed as a waterproof approach shoe, built for rugged terrain and trekking. Its stiff, stable ride is intended to perform across uneven ground, scree, and snow, even when carrying a heavy load of gear to the wall. The dual-purpose Vibram outsole is designed to smear up slabs and descend softer ground with equal confidence. That said, we understand this may not provide the comfort you're looking for, and we’d love the opportunity to help you find a shoe that better suits your needs. Please feel free to reach out, our team would be happy to help you explore other options. https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/contact

Should be named differently - not a konseal

The previous konseal FLs were spectacular. These are extremely stiff, heavy and large. To clip them onto a harness feels so awkward. These are so wildly stiff that I developed raging metatarsal pain after a long approach. They are OK to jam in, but that slight rocker makes getting your foot back out of the crack unsettling. Also - sizing... I sized down almost 2 full sizes and they still feel large. Seeing some delam from the rubber around the medial arch. Lacing system is epic and the sole is definitely grippy on rock, but these are not an upgrade to the FLs or ARs. Good looking shoe, it would make sense if it was named differently. Please bring back those approach shoes :(

Hi there, thank you for sharing such detailed feedback on the Konseal GTX Shoe Men's. We really appreciate you taking the time to outline both what worked well and where your experience with the shoes fell short. It’s great to hear that you found the lacing system and sole grip effective, but we’re sorry to learn about the stiffness, sizing challenges, and discomfort you experienced on longer approaches. That’s definitely not the experience we aim to deliver. The Konseal GTX Shoe is designed with GORE-TEX waterproofing and added structure, which can make it feel stiffer and heavier. Your comments about fit, weight, and performance compared to previous Konseal models are incredibly valuable, and we’ll make sure to pass them along to our team for review. Regarding the delamination you noticed, we suggest reaching out to our After Sales team by submitting a Product Service Request (https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service) so they can take a closer look and assist you further. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. It helps us improve and refine our gear.

Not sure where they shine.

The look and fit of this shoe are great, super happy in that respect. The soles are too hard though and I’m having a hard time figuring out what the are meant for. Trying to climb over deadfall and they don’t grip, any sort of moisture in the soil and they don’t grip. They get even worse when the temperature drops, zero grip whatsoever on snow. They also sound like tap shoes on concrete just to add to everything else.

Hi there, thank you so much for sharing your review of the Konseal GTX Shoe! We’re thrilled to hear the look and fit work well for you. The Konseal GTX can certainly be worn daily, but it may feel stiff since it’s designed as an approach shoe for technical rocky terrain. Its stiff sole provides stability on uneven surfaces, with forefoot grip for climbing toward a route and heel traction for hiking back down. If you’re looking for a more everyday option, our Norvan line is a great choice. It’s a mountain running shoe built for varied terrain. We truly appreciate your feedback about performance in wet and snowy conditions. It’s incredibly valuable, and we’ve shared it with our design team to help improve future products. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience!

Solid durable shoe- good grip on rock surfaces

Solid durable shoe- good grip on rock surfacesthe new Konseal felt a little bit stiff with a harder sole when I first started wearing them.  Over the course of a couple weeks I wore them in and they felt more comfortable.  I feel like they will last a long time with the stiffer sole and get better over time.  The grip has been great on wet rocks and perfect for the coastal hiking I do, a little slippery on logs though.  I feel the grip got better as I wore them in and the shoe became a little more flexible.  Size 10 fits well but they are slightly narrow in the toe. Very solid shoe.

Daily wear shoes

My third pair of Konseal shoes, they just keep improving the design! I wear these around town whenever it’s raining as they are super minimalist. They take a day to break in but are super comfortable now.

Good shoe

I love the new shoes. They were a little tight though. I even got a half size larger. As I have seen with your products they always run small. Wish you guys would fit true to size better!!!!

No good

The product is not comfortable at all. Very tough material, no give. It is extremely pricey for its quality.
