Bought a large. Waist runs extra small and rolls down. I am 5'8", have a 32" waist, 42" hips and thick thighs. Butt and legs are ok but waist is where it's difficult creates a bad muffin top. Purple is beautiful, fabric and construction are nice. Will return and get an XL. UPDATE: Got the XL and returned it. While the width was now correct, the length was so high! The waist was 1-2" below the bottom of my Panache sports bra. Still, I gave it an hour on my Peloton, and discovered issues with the chamois. They didn't cut it wide enough so the seams were rubbing in high friction areas like the top inside of my thighs. It was uncomfortable.
These run extremely small in the waist and too large in the leg openings. I am the most medium of all mediums - I wear medium in literally every other brand of bike shorts, running shorts, ski tights, jeans, yoga pants, and whatever other bottoms I've ever worn, but these were so tight I almost couldn't get them up to my waist. When I finally managed it, I couldn't inhale properly. In contrast, the leg openings, which fell just above my knees, were way too loose. That means I can't even size up! There's just no give or stretch anywhere in the fabric or style except in the leg bands. Sadface.
WOW, way too small. I ordered a medium and could barely yank it up over my hips. I am 63, 5'7" and weigh 140. Got a tummy these days, but never been a large. So, luckily I ordered the Large also to try on. It is still snug but definitely wearable. Sorry, haven't used yet but wanted to post this. It seems like a really nice product.
I had high hopes for the fit on these, given my athletic body type and avid touring cycling, based on the other reviews. The waist fit great for me in my normal size of cycling shorts (medium), but the top of the legs near the crotch were too loose (and I don't have bird legs). It would be a recipe for chafing... I'll have to return.
My first pair of bike shorts and I love them. While they run pretty small (I got a size L) and requiring some shimmying to get on, they stay in place and are comfortably. I'm 5'7", 170lbs, 42" hips and the L was snug. Smooths seams and pockets feel flattering, and the smooth fit was something I wanted to layer under pants in the cold. a high rise waist that hits just at the right spot without coming up too high. The side pockets hold things securely, the grippy hems on the legs stay in place, breathable fabric, and the padding is cushier than I expected.
I have purchased 2 pairs of these shorts! Fits perfect! Love the high waist! Traveled 1000 miles last month touring France and England using these 2 pairs. Never was sore, very comfortable!
These are perfect padding in all the right places and very affordable. Great for long bike rides!
