Received used item
I ordered a new pair of Danner boots from REI at full price but when they arrived you can tell the were slightly used or a floor model. The tags on the boots have a red dot like they may have been on a clearance section at some point. Disappointed with REI and the quality of the product received
Most comfortable walking boot ever
Most comfortable casual boots ever. Wore these for conference in San Francisco and walked all over the city and expo at Moscone. Tons of compliments. Comfort and support was perfect balance. No regrets.
Great 3 season boots for a great many things.
New work boots. Nice classic styled upper and comfy tech lower mashup. These are light on your feet which is great. Super comfy after standing over 6 hrs. Over 80 degrees I’d pick something else bc these get hot. Great support, traction, and they are very quiet indoors. I climb ladders occasionally and they will get toe smudges but can’t avoid that. So far they are awesome.
Light but Sturdy
Really nice soles - I have metatarsal issues and these really work with a sturdy, yet light and supple mid-sole. No issues out of the box. I have only walked in the rain with them, but seem to keep the feet dry. Classic style - I get lots of complements. These will definitely get resoled as I expect them to look fantastic worn in.
Love
Love how these feel, they keep my feet dry in the rain and are great not only for office but also the job sites I go to weekly.
Quality craftsmanship, cool styling a bonus
Wow, immediately out of the box these lived up to the Danner reputation in my mind. Firstly, there are two sets of laces, which may seem minor but it shows the company cares more about function than financial margins. Secondly, I really like the eyelets on the boots, they are much more low profile but still give you the classic, hefty boot feel of tightening down the laces. They were pretty much wearable out of the box. A bit tight but the kind I know will relax with time. They are well built so it's preferable to them feeling flimsy right away. I will probably mostly wear these in wet weather/conditions but they would probably perform just fine on the trail. I bought these in prep for a trip to England, I needed waterproof, walkable, and stylish for all occasions. Ticks all the boxes. Looking forward to many years with these.
Danner is the GOAT
Danner makes the best boots money can buy … these do run a tad small but only in width, not length, and do mold to foot after some wear … typical Danner - takes a couple of wears and they’re molded to the foot perfectly … I always half size in Danner and they fit perfectly (lengthwise)
Very comfortable, little break-in required
After reading other reviews about how these run large I almost went a half size down but decided against it and I'm glad I did. I would say these are pretty much true to size. My normal size is 12 (medium) and these fit perfectly with just enough room to wear a larger sock for colder conditions. Yes, with a thin sock there's a bit of extra room but because of the lacing you can tighten them up to compensate and they still feel snug enough that walking a decent distance they don't create hotspots. They also were comfortable straight out of the box - I did wear them around the house for a while first to make sure they'd be a good fit. The leather is soft enough that break-in isn't really required, yes they're starting to feel even better the more I wear them but these are definitely not like a stiff hiking boot. The bed and sole are also very comfortable for walking around. I would compare these to my Saucony or Cloud shoes that I use for long walks opposed to my Asolo hikers which are very stiff. For norther Minnesota these are a solid 3(ish) season option - probably too warm for summer but I wouldn't likely be using them in shorts weather anyway. For winter they're good enough with a thick sock for at least shorter times outside - definitely not going to cut it for long use when it's below 0 outside but that's not what I would expect. Overall, very happy with the look and comfort, for day-to-day use walking around and doing roadtrips these are absolutely my new go-to favorite!
