Not the same as Cloudburst Rain Hat
Don't remember when I bought, 10+ years ago(?) the original "Cloudburst Rain Hat", but it served me well until it didn't - no longer rain proof. This hat is barely doable as what happened to the really long neck flap? And the slide on the chin strap? This new one is not an easy adjustment. But! I will say the front brim design is a nice improvement. The material construction is way lighter then the old Cloudburst, but guessing that is due to advancements in materials. I've been out in a decent downpour- no wind - for about 45 minutes. And yes it kept my head dry. So, yes I will keep and wear it as there really isn't a better option out there. If I lose it or wear it out, yeah I'll buy another one. Recommendation: Coming from a "Cloudburst Hat" I think you'll be disappointed. But as a first time buyer I think you'll really like it.
Is gray, not tan. Chin strap not as pictured.
I LOVE Sunday Afternoons hats, have several, but this time I am not fond of the hat. The color looks like tan online, but it is more gray than tan. Ok, I am not pleased with the color but can live with it. However the chin strap this time is just a rubbery piece that slides up and down, not the plastic piece pictured that allows one to squeeze it and adjust it up or down. Is it defective or a new less-desirable design? Not sure but it seems prone to wearing out.
My favorite hat
I bought this hat almost 10 years ago. It keeps all the rain away, keeps the water off the back of my neck and down into my clothing, the webbing inside keeps it so my head doesn't get sweaty. This is a fantastic hat. My daughter borrowed my hat when she volunteered at a wildlife rescue and without in the pouring rain all the time cleaning the enclosures. I kept the rain out of her eyes and off her back. I can't say enough about this fantastic hat. I'm a woman but find that men's hats usually fit a little better. This hat is quite large though. When I bought it it came in different sizes, I don't see that often now. I wish I had gotten a little bit smaller size even with the adjustment on the back
Pleased with this purchase
Bought this for an Alaskan cruise and it was sunny the entire trip. But worked nicely as sun protection and looked cute in the selfies.
A HAT I CAN WORK IN
I am a photographer and was given the Ultra Adventure Storm Hat as a gift. I have been unable to wear a brimmed hat while doing photography because the brim would interfere with me getting to look threw the viewfinder. Initially unknowingly that the purpose of the split brim was for easy fold up for storage. I would fold it up while wearing it and would be able to look through the viewfinder without any obstructions while taking my photos. A feature that makes it work so well for me that I ordered a second one as a back up
Hat hater loves the way this one fits!
I am not a hat person, but I am 100% public transportation so I spend a good amount of time walking to and from bus stops in the rain. This hat is a huge improvement over the built-in hood of my windbreaker or winter coat. It sheds the rain away from my neck, shoulders, and chest so my jackets can keep me dry. The feature I like the best, though, is the cinch strap for getting the fit just right. I wear a large size hat, usually, but when it's windy or if I just lean over, my hats will usually fall off. Not this one!
Amazingly Versatile Adventure Storm Hat
This adjustable style of hat fits my head no matter whether I wear my hair up, (adding bulk), or down in a braid. It is comfortable in either situation. This Storm version is great in the rain. The brim is broad enough and sloped such that water does not hit my glasses even when I am moving quickly. I find it perfect for all day wear in quirky spring weather. In the morning when it’s cold, the longer sides protect my ears, yet it is still comfortable to wear in the afternoon sun and then continues performing well when the wind picks up and a rainstorm rolls through. I haven’t even mentioned the clever reverse split brim design which allows the hat to be packed flat but doesn’t compromise the waterproofing. I find this hat amazingly versatile and well worth purchasing.
Excellent hat!
I really love my hat. I used it all summer long, and it kept me out of the sun and dry. The only downside is that the brim is wide enough that I can't see what's above me--and I've run into a couple of limbs as a result. However, I can't really go with a shorter brim--so it's just an inherent trade-off. It's foldable, however, and packs into my backpack without taking up space or adding weight. A truly great hat! Wish there was a vented waterproof version as well, for the hottest days!
smaller dimensions than traditional adventure hat
another well-made, high quality product from my favorite hat company! i REALLY like the heavier-duty feel of this hat... but sooo sadly, the smaller sized brim & neck-flap are not enough coverage for my taste. i much prefer the coverage levels of the traditional adventure hat & would have preferred the same dimensions be utilized with this all-weather version. alas, not all dreams can come true & i will simply continue to wear my other adventure hats come rain or shine!
Not the best hat for rain
I love the Sundancer hat but because I wear expensive hearing aids that can’t get wet I ordered this one as well. I am so disappointed! The brim is narrower and the cape in the back isn’t as long nor as wide. If the rain is falling vertically then, maybe, it would be OK. But if the rain is blowing from in front or the sides e.g. on a windy blustery day, as is often the case, this hat won’t provide the protection I need.
