Little Furnace!
I have lots of down puffers for winter and love them all. But I was looking for something I could wear in the snow, get a bit wet, and not worry that I need to add a shell. This is it. It is warm, toasty even. The women's has good ventilation under the arms but otherwise is equally warm all over. I got the jacket so I'm not lugging around a hood too. It makes for a great jacket for winter hikes (I've worn it in the low 20s and been just fine with a smartwool baselayer beneath) & for a dash to the car in the early mornings in single digit temps. Wait for sale and snag one. You won't regret it.
Didn’t love the fit
This fits very slightly larger than my previous version of this jacket (when it was called Atom Heavyweight). Definitely fits bigger than the regular Atom, but that has always been the case. I wish all of these jackets were cut a little more for a woman’s body rather than a boxy fit. I considered getting it taken in in the waist area to be a little more fitted, and might still do that. I could probably have sized down, but I’m tall and the smaller size was shorter (which is very annoying - why do brands assume that taller people are also bigger?!).
Baggy almost like mens jacket
Baggy almost like mens jacket very long sleeves very warm
Perfect Warmer Jacket
I bought this jacket to wear alone and under the Beta AR jacket as part of my ski kit. Both jackets are a large and layer perfectly. This jacket is quite warm on its own but also has room to add layers underneath. I bought both in the nightcape color which I love. I can wear both jackets either alone or layered giving me lots of options for a variety of winter activities.
Excellent cold weather layer or standalone.
It is warm and a vital layer for cold. It runs bit large and the fit is unflattering but it is comfortable, unrestrictive and warm, especially great for layering. LEt's be real, this is COMFORTABLE gear to survive and endure not necessarily to look cute. I'd buy it again. I use it mostly under 35F to -12F with warm midlayer.
Much bigger fit
I have an older version of Atom which I love. Really looked forward to the SV version with no hood. I had to go a size down as compared to my previous version because this one is very roomy in the waist and torso. Much prefer the previous more tailored fit.
Very warm, runs large
Great insulation, very warm. Fit runs large. Broad in the shoulders, loose across the chest, boxy fit, sleeves run long. I wish Arcteryx would try dolman sleeves, a good cut for both broad and narrow shoulders. Size down for closer fit.
Rubbish fit and fabric
Plastic bag fabric feel and fit is boxy and poor. Now exactly the same shape as the men’s so fits on shoulders too baggy around chest and waist and then tight on hips. I have 3 previous version Atoms - all great but tis is just poor
Great jacket!
Comfortable and breathable, I’m loving this jacket!
