This is a great parka. It’s kept me completely warm in freezing weather with only a t-shirt on underneath it, yet it’s comfortable in temperatures as high as the mid 50s (Fahrenheit). The goretex outer shell also makes it a bit more fashionable looking than your standard puffer. That said, there are a few areas for improvement: 1. There needs to be a way to button down the collar. It rises so high that it will sometimes rub against my chin even when unzipped. 2. It would be nice if there was a bit more ventilation on the sides. There’s already less insulation there, but it could also offer pit zips for even more flexibility when heating up. 3. The logo is bigger than I like. While I don’t mind it on the chest, I’m really not a fan of logos that scream, “hey, look at me and my chosen brand!” I fell like it cheapens the look. Besides that, this has been a great winter jacket, and it feels like it will last for years to come.
This is a very nice winter coat. Very warm and fits wells.
I’ve been keeping my eye on the Therme for a few years now, and finally decided to make the purchase with the 2025-2026 revision. With this change, I can now say that this jacket is the closest iteration it has been to the holy grail version (2014). Giving a longer review below, but TL;DR is that you should buy this jacket. I see lots of complaints regarding sizing, definitely go to the store and try on the various sizes if you can. A brief history: - The OG version (2014) was the gold standard, and was widely regarded as the best winter parka by most reviewers and publications (ie OutdoorGearLab gave it their top rating and it carried their top recommendation for some time). - Then in 2022, Arc’teryx made a revision to OG design. This jacket is a mix of goose down and synthetic filler in moisture-prone areas (think underarms). The 2022 revision changed the synthetic filler to be less warm and performant, resulting in a ‘less warm’ jacket. Additionally they added the Therme SV in 2022 to serve as the ‘heavy duty’ option. This jacket had more fill, and warmer — but it was also longer and more bulky. This year they finally revised the Therme parka to be closer to the OG: added more fill 94g -> 112g), and changed the synthetic filler used (Primaloft Silver). This generation is considerably warmer than the previous, and as a result they’ve also discontinued the SV. This is a no nonsense parka, regular fit to allow for layering if you need it. I’m 5’10, 165 and wear a small. I initially bought and tried the Patagonia stormshadow, but was unfortunately between sizes (S, M). This jacket is a teensy bit bigger, which was perfect for me. Tremendously warm, perhaps lacking in some more technical features (waist cinch, detachable hood, straps to more easily carry the jacket without wearing it). But it carries a great combination of aesthetics and warmth for the money. I mentioned the Patagonia stormshadow earlier: it is about the same price and a bit warmer, but much more bulky and less aesthetically pleasing (look like the Michelin man). I feel like Arc’teryx has threaded the needle here well. And for those people who want an even more svelte cut — go check out the Veilence line of products. Overall, this jacket has been a long time coming. With refreshes changing the lineup quite often, I highly recommend going to try on the 2025-26 version if you’re interested. It’s the closest since the OG that many of us have been yearning for.
