Great all round jacket! For Autumn Which I’ll continue to wear in winter under my beta jacket Good quality
This new revised Atom SV seems very durable, outer fabric is strong and is very warm, warmer than previous versions and has more Coreloft insulation in it. The problem for me is that I also own a previous version, the Atom AR in XL size and it fits much better (trimmer) than this new version in the same size. So I ended up returning it because I didn’t like the fit at all and ordered a Large size instead. Quality from Arc’teryx is still there so I would recommend it for sure, just make sure to maybe try it out at a store first.
Originally I owned the Atom AR jacket. This is very comparable. I have had an issue lately with sizing from Arcteryx. It seems as though all of their products are changing sizing and the fit for me is not the best. I have been purchasing from other brands because of the sizing issue. I ordered the medium in the Atom SV and I’m happy to say the sizing is perfect and similar to my older Atom AR. Durability seems good. The material seems thicker and I noticed the other day with a light rain the jacket repelled water really well. I’m a person that is constantly cold in the late fall and winter and have used this jacket on a few cold mornings and also in the hockey rinks and it is toasty warm. Even though the description states light activity for an insulator I will be using it under one of my Beta AR shells for skiing.
Highly disappointed in the new Atom SV fit. I’ve owned several Atoms and Protons, and they used to have a nice athletic, tapered shape. The new SV is much boxier, with too much space in the waist and torso. If you’re shaped like a box, it might work - but for slimmer or athletic builds, it looks bulky and unflattering. Please bring back a fitted version like the old Atom AR, or offer a trim-fit option for those who want a warm winter jacket that still looks sleek.
I think it’s fair to say that most people miss the fit of the atom AR. This fits sloppily at best. The hood design is lacking as well. The side panels are not simple fleece like the regular atom. They’re more like the proton insulation and outer nylon. I’m an athletic 6’ and this is just too baggy compared to older designs.
Purchased in store, men’s large. I’m 5’9” 210 Pounds. The large fits me great. It’s got a much tougher face fabric than my old Atom AR. The large fits like a L~XL. The xl was very big in the shoulders. Very warm, hood is a bit large but decent. Over all I like it. If you had a large atom heavyweight or atom before try a medium.
This jacket is such a dark horse! When it arrived I couldn’t believe how lightweight it was and how comfortable it felt and didn’t feel like this jacket was going to be as warm as it actually is. It’s without doubt one of the warmest jackets I’ve ever purchased. I recently wore the jacket in storm Amy and I didn’t disappoint.
DONT BUY IT. 350+ Dollars for a brand that just started, moreover, it's NOT worth the price at all. I really do not understand why those people gave a five-star rating for this product. This jacket is wayyyyy overpriced. Go to The North Face.
I like most Arcteryx products a lot. In this case, I was upgrading from my old Atom AR hoody to this new Atom SV hoody. This new "revised" product is as good, perhaps a tad thicker and I look forward to wearing it when it gets colder very soon.
I live in Alaska and this has been my go to jacket for years. It’s warm, breathable and handles almost any thing the cold north has thrown at it. I consider it a piece of my must have gear for this area. Love it, and it looks awesome too!
