Been buying GEL-Kayono shoes for probably 10+ years. I compared to my old Kayano shoes and they have removed so much outer sole material that they will wear out very quickly, especially in the heel area and forefoot part. Also, the tongue is now just a thin piece of material that will provide effectively zero cushion on top of foot from laces. Feels like they are just trying to make lighter and wear out faster. Will be returning them.
Amazing cushion, fits well, very stable. I cannot believe how good these shoes are. No negatives.
I’ve worn ASICS running shoes as my primary walking/work shoes for the past 3–4 years and have generally had a very positive experience. Previous pairs were comfortable, supportive, and durable enough to last close to a year with heavy daily walking use. However, my recent experience with the GEL-Kayano 32 has been disappointing, especially considering the $165 price point. After only about two months, the tread/sole began separating from the rest of the shoe during normal walking use. I’ve temporarily repaired it with super glue, but this level of failure so early in the product’s life feels unacceptable for a premium shoe. I still think ASICS makes comfortable and supportive footwear overall, which is why this experience stands out so much compared to my prior purchases. I’m hoping this was an isolated quality-control issue rather than a sign of declining durability.
They are comfortable and light, but immediately after my first 5-mile run on them, I got knee pain and stiffness on my calves. I tried them a week later and the same happened. My earlier Kayanos (now worn out) never did this -- I ran 5 miles on my old Kayanos just to check, and had no problems. I wish they didn't change the design of the shoes so much, so I could stay with that worked for me.
The new redesign is not for me , the new tongue is too thin and was bothering my feet .
Ordered it in x-wide, but definitely not x-wide, tighter than my current "wide" shoe. Returned.
I’ve been a fan of the Gel-Kayano line for years and have bought over 6 pairs of both the 30 and 31 models. I’ve been wearing the 32 for the past year, and unfortunately this is where my loyalty to the Gel-Kayano ends because the quality and design changes have been very disappointing. The Gel-Kayano 32 is easily the most disappointing version I’ve used. I have flat feet and expected the fit to remain wide and comfortable like previous models, but the 32 feels noticeably tighter. My biggest issue is the redesigned tongue. Previous versions had a soft, padded tongue that provided comfort and support, but the 32 replaces it with a thin piece of fabric. This design causes the tongue to run directly along the arch area of the foot. For someone with flat feet, this means the fabric constantly rubs against the skin, leading to chafing, irritation, and raw, painful skin after prolonged use. This is a warning to all future purchases to try these on in-stores and really examine if the side of the tongue will rub on your feet and causes problems.
