[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave these a good test on on a winter bog surface today, the shoes had plenty of grip on the pedal as well as as the the soft loamy and rooty stuff. I can attest to the fact of dry feet after the spin. I then proceeded to wash the bike and still my feet remained dry. They were also quick to dry out, unlike the impact. I would also mention the shoe is true to size unlike the previous impact 510, which I would have always sized up. Unlike the impact 510 this shoe is much lighter and I am not sure how much protection it would offer one if I was to unintentionally kick a tree stump! So far so good, and yes I would buy another pair.
I had puddles of water inside my shoes and it’s been a solid 7 days and the shoes are still wet inside and stink. This is after ONE ride. Rode in the PNW in November and couldn’t avoid some puddles. I was wearing POC winter pants and my new goretex shoes. I had water sloshing on my shoes on the first lap. My feet did stay warm even water logged. But it totally sucked. For paying as much as I did and after all the good reviews. Sort of confused how these are so “waterproof”. Maybe it’s a faulty pair but not keen and sort of annoyed I wasted the money.
Wore these for the first time at the weekend in heavy rain whilst wearing shorts. Within one run/trail, my left foot was in a puddle. After a few more runs, both feet were in puddles. I believe (want to believe) that the water got into my shoes down my legs and then Goretex would not let the water out. Resulted in a having my feet underwater for a 90 minute ride. I am hoping that wearing trousers will stop the water getting in like this. But once water is in the shoes, it is not getting out. (After my ride, I was able to pour water from both shoes).
Been waiting for GTX MTB shoes for years. Long overdue. These are great at adhering to pedals, walking over trails, and have kept dry in atrocious wet. Also look great. Only initial issue was sizing - normally I go up at least one size with the generally more rigid five tens for broader feet. I tried a half size up (9 rather than usual 8.5) as it looked like these would have more give. They certainly do have more give and are more comfortable, but while the 9 was OK after trying on (carefully indoors of course) I still ended up feeling most comfortable in 9.5 especially with thicker socks and am happy with these. Recommend...
Great shoes have already put these through two Welsh autumn mud baths. Warm dry feet all day long. Went half a size up and can fit water proof socks in with ease. They are narrow as others have mentioned. The sole grip is excellent as with all five tens I actually think they grip better than freeriders. Great to walk in when you need to push the bike. There is very little breathability in them so your feet to tend to stay hot on warmer days but from what I can tell they will be perfect in winter.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only shoes I buy are Five Ten as they give me the grip I need when riding. Buy a size bigger for sure. I ordered this particular shoe because I could get it personalised, not a good idea, after the 1st use two letters came off and the words make no sense, a complete waste of money! I was looking for an email address for customer service to send them an image of the faulty wording but I cannot find one on the site. Great shoe extremely disappointed with the personalisation.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What’s not to say about the five ten trail cross shoe they are by far the best mtb shoe I’ve tried so far and I’ve had a few five ten but this is the first pair that have gore tex which makes them totally water proof which is what you need on the wet mucky trails a bit tricky to get on with the Velcro strap but once they are on they are so comfortable and you know that your feet will stay dry and the grip on the sole will make sure your feet never slip off the pedals
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sceptical, so many products on tge market say they will keep your feet dry even in torrential weather, well these shoes delivered! They fit well aslong as you follow the half size up rule as with all cycling shoes which still makes them nice and snug. Combine all that with the 5ten stealth sole’s grip and you pretty much have a perfect package for winter riding! I dont think i’ll go back to any other shoe for mountain biking again!
Ive been looking at five tens for a while to replace my current MTB shoes and really liked both the style and waterproof characteristics of the trailcross gtx so gave them a try. I’m so glad I did as they have the classic stealth sole sole which provided great grip on the pedals, plus the new front and real tread pattern to aid walking on hike and bike runs. I also found them more comfortable than other MTB shoes I had tried and very lightweight by comparison I have yet to fully test the waterproof quality (only used during summer so will have to see how they perform over the winter) but a review I saw on line suggests they are one of the first truly waterproof MTB shoes, and he literally stood in water and blasted them with a hose pipe, so I expect they will keep my feet dry. They also look pretty cool. Overall great quality, style and performance.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can highly recommend them and not only are they Gortex, but they’re a great fit, grip like super glue, lightweight stylish. The expense is wort it and can’t wait to try them out in the wet soggy conditions and walk away with dry feet for once. I currently own a pair of 5 10’s and are on the tighter side, so I would recommend going up a whole size so you can either get your winter warm socks on or waterproof socks to be double safe.
