I purchased this during the annual spring sale in my normal size (8) for a hiking boot/shoe wearing medium weight socks. It was way to big in length (3 fingers fit behind the heel). I then ordered it in a 7-1/2, and the shoe still slipped in the heel, and was a bit to long. I should have paid better attention to the sizing chart and ordered my original in Euro sizing 38 - 38.5, which would be a 6-1/2 US sizing in this shoe! This is not consistent with other shoe manufacturer's sizing conversion chart that I have used. I was really frustrated with the sizing issue, so returned both pairs to REI after a 90 mile drive to the nearest store. Unfortunately they aren't available in the store to get the proper size. Aside from the sizing issue, I really liked the look of the shoe - it's well made with a stiff sole, and not a fashion statement like some brands that come in pink and green colors, which would make it a good option for travel where you hike and bike. Unfortunately I am still searching for that shoe.
I have worn solo boots for 20 years and wanted a lighter weight shoe. These shoes run large so I sized down 1/2 size. The laces don’t tie well so I’m going to have to get another pair of laces so the shoes stay firmly closed. Otherwise the heel starts to slip. The shoe itself is just ok I wish it had better tread.
