Let down
Again REI clothing lets me down . And the big culprit is fit. The quality is usually good, features good, but the fit is awful. This jacket has the shortest sleeves when you reach out that I’ve ever seen, the jacket is voluminous, but the sleeve length is a joke, almost every single rei clothing item I’ve tried has bad pattering, too wide and too short in torso, they do not study other manufacturers and how well there stuff fit and then don’t understand what they consistently do poorly. If you have really short arms your good , if not you will be
True to Size(ish)
Pretty nice parka. Im 6'1", 180lbs for reference. Got an XL. Fits nicely everywhere besides the sleeves being short. Common issue with REI clothes but was hoping nonetheless that the sleeves would be longer. Should come in a tall version. Will keep me warm this winter no doubt, but I'll have to wear it with ski mitts that reach up the arm so that my wrists aren't exposed.
Great warm winter coat.
I’m really happy with this coat. It’s extremely warm, cozy, and effectively water repellent. Others have mentioned that the sleeves are on the short side. I’m a short guy so that’s perfect for me. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the hood is a bit large even when I Velcro it back. I’d say the sizing runs a bit large. I’m normally a medium but had to buy a small. Overall I’m really satisfied with this coat!
Warm and cozy!
OK- I am a women size small and purchased the men’s medium cause I wanted it big and comfy. I got exactly what i wanted. Big and boxy - no shape at the waist like many women’s styles.I love the knit cuffs on the sleeve lining cause for me the sleeves are long- 37” from center back to hem. That is not a sleeve that is too short. Perhaps the customer who thought the sleeves too short would be better buying a tall size( This parka does not come in tall). Anyway LOVE the coat and would recommend guys and gals check it out
Lovely coat but yes it runs big
Bought this for my son who is 6 foot and about 120 lbs, he's tall and thin. Other reviewers are correct in stating that this coat runs big. He is sometimes in a size large in Tshirts for the length but we had to size way down to a small in this because the Large just hung off of him and could likely fit three more of him inside. I laid it over my women's norseland parka that I got last season in a size XL and they are roughly the same size. (Blows my mind that, a ladies XL is a men's small) Anyway, we did not t find the sleeves to be too short as some others have stated. This is a super nice coat once we got the sizing figured out. Has a lot of nice features one would want to keep the cold out and it's not very heavy. He hasn't worn it in life yet so I'm hoping the quality will measure up during daily wear. If it's anything like my norseland parka I know it will keep him warm.
Enormous
Enormous - I bought an XL for my guy who always wears an XL, and the coat was so big there was room for me in there too. So, I exchanged for a large, which fit better but not long enough in the arms. He is 6'2 and 225. The parka is nice and warm, though bulky. The orange is a bit bright but the only color option left
The sleeves are way too short on this jacket
As others have commented, the jacket is nice. I got it on sale and it was very pleased with the quality and features but it had to go back because the sleeve length is a joke--way too short!
Great Parak
Very nice quality down parka. It's very warm and the hood covers my face.
Close but not quite
Very warm and comfortable (as the weather tested just this week!). However it loses 2 stars because of the zippers. Every one of the pocket zippers constantly gets caught in the material. Also the main two-way zipper is too flimsy and just feels awkward since it is a bit longer than it seemingly needs to be. A shorter and heavier duty regular zipper might be better and save cost as well. Those are small but fairly annoying short comings on an otherwise fine coat.
Nice coat for the price
I really like this jacket. For the price I find it good value for money. I did not have the sleeve length issue mentioned in other reviews. I’m 6ft tall and 265lbs, generally wear a 2XL (prefer a pit to pit of 28inches) and I find this coat to be a bit roomy, I would not size down, but I can easily get a fleece underneath comfortably.
