The best gloves
I’ve been through a lot of gloves over 32 years patrolling. The patrol gloves have stood up to a beating. My gloves are about five or six years old and just put my first piece of duct tape on one finger. They have kept my hands warm even on below freezing days when I could be outside for hours. I also love how soft they are which allows me to work outside without taking them off. Can’t say enough good things about them.
Black Diamond Patrol glove. Best glove ever!
This is my second pair of patrol gloves. My original pair was going in to it’s 12th (or so) year of use but one was lost. I was deeply saddened by its loss, but am currently enjoying the not-so bitter yet very much sweetness of a new pair. This glove is top of the line when compared to any other premium ski glove. As a former snowboard instructor & ski industry professional, I have tried many and this is the glove that I hope is available for the rest of my ski days. I would recommend this glove for temperatures ranging from around 0 to 30 degrees F as it is a well insulated and high performance glove especially in cold tems while shredding the powdery goodness!
just average
The Goat skin is a big deal as it is second toughest to that of Kangaroo, so very good so far. the size is perfect as XXL, BUT the insulation is not so great. back of the hand is fine but the palm side of the fingers is very THIN! like having just some nylon lining thats it! my fingers are cold all the time , even when holding heated grips on a quad. we have real winter on our horse ranch... like -30 to -40 plenty of times. for this very high price I expected much better insulation! Frankly basic insulated work gloves from the farm supply store are MUCH thicker insulation. not as nicely made ... BUT warmer
Gloves of Distinction
I have been wearing, using, and abusing Black Diamond gloves for 4 seasons now. I bought the Patrol gloves because I have been so pleased with the Guide and Legend gloves. I have lobster claw and finger styles also. I have been pleased with the fit, the warmth, and most of all the durability of the BD's. I have been so pleased I wear only the Black Diamond gloves. I have the choice of many brands. and still have others, but always go back to the BD gloves for the performance in all weather, temps, and conditions. I would highly recommend.
Very Happy
Only used these gloves twice - once during a very rainy day at Whistler and once on a blue bird day up in the alpine. These are the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn. They stayed dry and toasty all day in the rain and never felt too warm even though temps were just above 0 Celsius. They were perfect for the day in the alpine with temps well below 0 Celsius they kept me warm and comfy all day! Can't comment on the durability yet but so far they're absolutely perfect.
Good all-rounders
The Patrol gloves feel like a toned down version of the Guide gloves that I've used extensively. The biggest difference is the shorter gauntlet and the insulation only covering the palm, where the insulated inner runs down over the wrist into the gauntlet on the Guides. Because of those differences the mobility is a bit better with the Patrol, they're a less bulky/more packable and aren't quite as warm as the Guides.
Undersized by at least 2 or 3 sizes
I ordered the XXL because I wanted a warm, looser fitting glove in cold weather that would be easy on and off. I wear a large or extra large. These XXLs were tight and felt more like a medium. When I put them on my fingers went to sleep immediately. I’m very dissatisfied with this design because I can’t get a pair larger. If you decide to keep this awful design perhaps you should also make an XXXL or XXXXL!
Bought larger size
Just received the patrol gloves after owning the Guide finger gloves. The large Guide was chart recommendation but they were a bit snug for my long fingers. The XXL Patrol fits perfectly. They are comfortable, flexible and appear to be well made. Hopefully they will be warm enough for all but the coldest ski days. If possible I will update next season.
BD Patrol don’t disappoint!
The gloves are very warm, well-padded, and amazingly built. They fit well and hug the fingers nicely. These would keep my fingers warm while snow showing in the backcountry. These gloves have good mobility in spite of the padded feel. I have not tried them yet in temperatures below freezing but can tell they would perform well.
Black Diamond for the win
These are hands down (Pun intended) the warmest ski gloves I've had the pleasure of wearing. I've been getting by with cheaper gloves and hand warmers but when -17F hit Alta this year, these gloves were a winner. Just wished I had purchased two weeks earlier to ski Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee, both in negative temps.
