What are these even for? Selfies at the lodge?
0 stars - For the price point these are hot garbage. Speaking of hot, don't get hot in them or they fog up and become impossible to clean at home let alone 10000 feet up. That isn't the only glaring issue. If the glasses aren't glued to your face with the strap then every tiny sunbeam reflects off of the INSIDE of the lenses making these utterly useless. I spent all spring on PNW Cascade glaciers and peaks. WOULD NOT recommend unless you are chilling at the ski resort lodge. Too bad I spent the time understanding the limitations and cannot return them.
Wanted to Love
I am pretty bummed about these. I think they have a lot of good features and hopefully in future iterations they can get these working well. For me though I have some major issues. First, it takes a LOT of effort to get the magnetic side shields off the glasses. They seemed to have been manufactured in a way that is incorrect for removal which leads me to my second issue... They fog like CRAZY. Due to the size of the lens and more enclosed design if you run hot you are gonna run into some issues especially without being able to remove the side shields. I really wish I had purchased a wildcat or embark as I think the photochromatic lens is cool but otherwise this product hasn't done the trick.
Insanely big. Will fall off of most heads.
Do not buy these unless you have a HUGE head. I normally wear an L/XL in helmets and hats and these are still big enough that they fall right off of my face if I look down (I do not wish to use the strap as it's uncomfortable under my helmet. ) Its really a shame that Smith doesnt offer a goggle-style that would fit most womens heads. All of my glasses and goggles are from Smith so when I needed glacier glasses, these were my first choice. Unfortunately, Im forced to look elsewhere. Please make goggle-style glacier goggles that fit more than only those with extremely large heads.
Broken hinge, one month in
Already broke.....
Not adjustable enough
I guess I have a skinny head or nose because when I hike and look down to see where I am going, the glasses fall down my nose. I wish there were another nosepad in the case or an a way to adjust the fit.. if you have a skinny nose or head I wouldn’t buy these. I’m not sure how the chroma works but it seems like in a vehicle they don’t work as well with lens changes as compared to being outside exposed to the rays. Unfortunately I cannot return as I’ve passed the timeframe and have used the glasses on a hike.
Awful Warrant Process
Purchased these from authorized online retailer and tried on. They sat crookedly on my face and I checked the nose piece and it arrived broken. Smiths just needs to send me a new nose piece and it’s been radio silence for 2 weeks. Premium brands I’m used to have much more respect and alacrity than this company. When I reach out they just tell me to wait. I bought these glasses for snowboarding and now, with a very dry and high temp winter in Utah, may miss my window to use this season.
giant on my normal sized head
the pursuits are good at what they say they do. they don’t stay on, though - and there’s no way to tighten the fit. I wear a size M in helmets from smith and have no issues with the fit of the wildcats. I don’t trust these to stay on for skiing, mountaineering, or biking. used them for mountain biking today and they were blocking my vision within a minute of starting on the downhill, and I had issues with them staying on all winter for mountain pursuits.
FOGY
Fits well, looks great but! This is my third pair of Smith goggles, and I’ve never had this issue before. I’m not sure if there is a defect with this particular pair, but they fog up a lot. I use them for ski touring, and during the very first ascent they completely iced over within about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the same thing happened every time I tried them afterward. Because of this, they are difficult to use in real ski touring conditions.
Love em!
In love with these glasses. Took a face plant trying to land a jump while snowboarding. Landed right on these glasses! To my amazement there wasn’t a scratch on the lens. Definitely recommend for those snowboarders who don’t care for googles but still want to protect your eyes from all the wind. The lens will fog up but I feel like all glasses and goggles do that so it isn’t a deal breaker. The strap on the back is a nice touch.
Day Making
Cannot speak highly enough about these. After suffering an eye injury that has left me with photo sensitivity issues, the design of the Pursuit has allowed me to continue high output activity on and off snow. With the coverage they provide, the ventilation is on point in keeping the lens clear and the peripheral flaps keep down glare without entirely enclosing field of vision. Big thank you to Smith & Cody <3
