My first Beta was stolen after two months. My second Beta is more than 12 years old and when I replaced it, it was still everything I could have hoped for, but I had put on weight and couldn't breath anymore when the zipper was closed. My third Beta AR was dearly loved (amazing colour) and very carefully looked after - but the laminate came apart after only three years with comparatively little use (due to good summers and little outdoor work in the winters) - I am a walking guide and feel like I barely used it! From now on I feel I cannot really recommend this jacket anymore - and I used to recommend it to my guests all the time! For the price that these jackets cost (most expensive item of clothing I have ever owned!) I expect them to last longer! Having said that - it fit well, even with loads of layers underneath, and - until the laminate gave in - it was totally waterproof - and it was beautiful. Shame that it didn't last. I will watch the next Beta AR carefully. If it doesn't hold its promises AGAIN then I will have to find a new brand.
Wore it to Iceland. Experienced all-day raining and strong wind. Beta jacket definitely kept me warm and dry
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This jacket fits perfectly over my atom hoodie. It was a perfect combo for my September trip to Iceland.
[Employee of arcteryx] Extremely comfortable and very light, this jacket is perfect for hiking and protects me from the unpredictable rainy weather in the city. It’s definitely my go-to jacket! There’s enough room to add layers, so it can be worn all year round. Overall, a great product.
It’s a unique lilac pink. I always trust buying from REI —the details speak for themselves, and it’s definitely authentic.
I have been lucky enough to have multiple styles of Arc'teryx rain jackets (among other products). These rain jackets are the best out there in terms of water repellency. The Beta is breathable and good for varying weather conditions. It is light weight and highly packable. Size wise I will say that their jackets run quite small. I am typically a size 8 or 10 across the board, athletic build, 34DD, and 5'4". I purchased an XL in this jacket to make sure I could fit layers underneath. A photo is attached. I have the Beta AR in a size medium and it is snug across my hips - I can only fit a thin layer underneath. Very excited to have the larger size in the Beta to have options of what to wear underneath. It is a great jacket, but I would like to see them develop more inclusive sizing.
My go-to lightweight hiking and MTB shell jacket. Great fit with longer coverage that covers your butt, the cinches for the waist and hood are awesome to keep everything from moving around too much. It packs down small into a Norvan running vest or MTB hip pack. I am generally get a women's medium in outerwear from Arc'teryx, but ended up going with a large this time and I love the long fit and relaxed look with space to layer with a puffy. Sizing up, this jacket covers halfway down my thigh and is easy to move in. I've used this for pouring rain hikes and it works as expected for a hard shell from Arc'teryx: protective of outside wet, breathable enough for high output.
[Employee of arcteryx] I was looking for a replacement jacket for the beloved Zeta that didn't really fit anymore and landed on the Beta Jacket, tbh mostly for the gorgeous Moonstone colour. I wanted an all-purpose jacket I could wear hiking, biking, walking that would keep me dry and allow me to layer as I please (this is strictly a shell jacket with no insulation). I bought this jacket in a size large but honestly could have gotten away with a medium as it is quite relaxed and also very long. It kept me dry and protected on our latest backcountry trip. It also packs down really small to chuck in your bag in case of emergencies, but with more heft than the Beta SL for example. I do miss the pit zips like my Zeta Jacket had, to dump heat if I wore this on a strenuous hike or bike ride in the rain, but the colour won me over and no regrets.
I own my beta lt since 2021. i love the comfort and breathability. It futs quite narrow so as a 1,80m/65kg women i took a size s but would have appreciated more size m for putting a woolen pullover under it. Unfortunately it lost its waterproofing a year ago. Now i still use it for biking daily but my shoulders and arms get wet always. I never wear a backpack with it, so that can’t be the problem.
[Employee of arcteryx] I love everything about this jacket, especially the colour which is what drew me to it! It's light and small enough to pack into my hiking daypack, but still feels durable and keeps me dry in heavy rain. Its very comfortable, meaning its now my go to jacket to wear whether I'm hiking or just commuting to work. The cinch waist allows me to add more shape to the jacket and keep any cold air out. One thing to note, I have a previous season Beta Jacket, and the fit feels different. This model feels a little longer and a thicker outer fabric, which personally I prefer!
