Love the Sandstone, wish the blue wasn’t so light/clear
My 3rd pair of Maui Jim’s. Love the fit! I get my prescription put into them at my eye doctor. I wish they could be bought cheaper without the nice lenses since I have to take them out anyways! I love the color of the brown sandstone but the blue at the bottom is almost clear. After reading others reviews of light refracting off the light area of the bottom of the frame I’m debating about returning for the grey tortoise. I wish the brown sandstone wasn’t so clear at the bottom. Not a big tortoise fan either, if the grey was more of the softer layered pattern of the brown I think I’d like it much better. Excellent customer service via chat, by the way!
Fun Colors
I bought the Honi style in the sunset frame with blue Hawaii lenses. I normally wear a more rectangular or square shaped frame. I ended up keeping these because they are such fun colors. I really like how the blue Hawaii lenses block a lot of light. These are my favorite lenses for full sun conditions. The frames fit my small face well, although I don't like this style quite as much as the more rectangular Kini Kini and Ekolu frames I also kept (see pics in reviews to compare). Even with the spring hinge these will still stay on top of my head when I put them there.

I’d been wanting to invest in a good pair of sunglasses and found Maui Jim through a Reddit recommendation. I really liked the packaging and the thoughtful invitation to visit the Maui office in Lahaina, which I later learned had unfortunately burned down. A few months later, I unexpectedly had the chance to visit Maui and brought my sunglasses with me. I found them super comfortable and really well-made. But what surprised me most is how much they literally change how you see the world. They filter out so much harsh light, and everything becomes more vivid; it's almost like watching a film. It was honestly incredible to be able to see Maui through these sunglasses. They gave me a whole new way to experience one of the most stunning places on Earth and inspired my aloha ʻāina.

I absolutely love these glasses.....I have the sunset for summer/fall and the sandstone for winter/spring. I have had more comments and compliments on these frames, the style and the colors than any other style I have owned. I typically wear a tortoise shell color but have really enjoyed the blues, grays and orange colors in these frames. It would be great for Maui Jim to introduce more blues and greens and oranges into the styles. Our family has purchased Maui Jim for 20+ years and has always been satisfied with the product, the warranty and the repair process when needed...that's why we continue to purchase them.
My MJ Sunglasses.
I bought the “Honi” sunglasses to protect my eyes after having surgery to remove cataracts. Must admit I wondered if they would be worth the money? After several weeks wearing them I can honestly say they are brilliant and worth every penny. I no longer have to squint, or strain my eyes, even on the brightest day. I went back to my optician’s this morning for my final post op check up and I no longer need prescription glasses for distance, so I treated myself to a pair of MJ “Orchid” glasses. Did not like the pink tinged lenses, so I am having my “Orchid” frames fitted with bronze lenses, the same as my “Honi” sunglasses. Cannot wait for them to be ready for collection.
Honi sunglasses arrived with missing nose pad
Purchased a pair of the Honi sunglasses. They arrived with one of the nose tabs missing. I immediately called Maui Jim and was told they would overnight the nose pads as I am going out of town Monday. The nose pads were supposed to be here today. I once again called Maui Jim and was told they couldn’t be shipped because the cutoff time had passed! WHAT? That’s not what I was told. My nose pads won’t be here until Tuesday! Best sunglasses I’ve owned!
I recently received my custom pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and I love them!! My first pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and they came out perfect. Fit my oval face frame just right! I ordered the grey tortoise stripe frame with the blue Hawaii lens color. The shipping was faster than I expected. Overall I am happy with this purchase.
