I live in these
I'm a fly-fishing guide at a remote fly-out lodge in Alaska and am not exaggerating when I say I wear these all day, every day. I have a pair of the amber lenses and the lowlights, and they not only allow me to spot fish. . . but I rely on my smiths to safely navigate obstacles in the rivers while on the jet sled and in a raft both. Despite wearing them day in and out, the frames (while super scratched) are still in amazing shape and the lenses seem almost brand new. I love the large lenses, for a full view of what's going on around me, and the little wings on the sides of the frames help keep the sun from peaking through the sides and creating worse glare. I swear by my Smiths and I'll rely on these for years to come.
Very functional but super cute!
I've had several pairs of Smiths and I've loved them all but ended up with a lowlight yellow AND amber pair in these. I am a fly-fishing guide and fish Alaska, Wyoming and Colorado. The amber lenses are perfect for sunny/partly sunny days on the river and the lowlight yellow were PERFECT for steel heading in the rainforest. They provide great sun protection and a lot more coverage than the others I have. Big fan and would highly recommend these for anyone who wants a larger frame with all of the functionality that Smith lenses have to offer.
Slide off my nose, wrong lenses sent.
REI sent me the wrong lenses. Instead of the chroma glass light yellow lenses which are more expensive, they sent the grey green polycarbonate lenses. I just wore them on a trail run and I hated them because they kept sliding off my nose especially running down hill. They feel uncomfortable and bulky. I prefer sport frames that you barely feel, but I wanted some low light lenses, which apparently these aren't.
Decent sunglasses for the price
Decent sunglasses. Lenses are very clear. They are lightweight and stay up well. I got the gray ones and they have a yellow-green color cast. I thought maybe they accidentally gave me the yellow ones but the box says gray. It's not bad. The contrast and saturation are really good. I was just surprised by the color. As for negatives, the lenses seem to get fingerprints really easily and pick up a lot of dusk. It was actually hard to get them clean, though it doesn't affect your vision.
Finding a good fit is hard. . .
As a female angler with a narrow nose, i've been searching for a good fit. This is a good size except the nose is too wide. I'm keeping them cause I can't return them and I love the glass polarized low light yellow lens which is hard to find. An adjustable croakie will make them work.
Look great and high quality but,
It is impossible to get used to using these sunglasses while being super aware of the frames, especially on the lateral peripheral vision. Really upsets my viewing experience
Bridge width big
Great lenses, but the bridge width was too big and has to return them.
