Surfs alone

I found a go pro at the beach. Seriously, it was in between some rocks, it was at night and had it not been for the orange floaty I would not have spotted it. It was still on so I watched the last video (hoping I'd find the owner) I see the person surfing and crash, tumbling in the waves, I see a big shark! Ok a rock that maybe looked like a shark. Actually, I watch the go pro with the floaty plop up to the surface. Catch a few waves by itself and get tossed into the rocks alot and then get tossed in the air and land between rocks where I found it. Perfect items to have if you own a go pro, or find one.

Terrible Product

This is a terrible product. Will not float attached to any other accessories (GoPro doesn’t make that clear - you have to click more information under the description and it can be found in small lettering at the bottom of the page). I found out the hard way when the suction I had it attached too fell off my board and sunk to the bottom of the lake. Also, GoPro is not helpful at all when trying to fix the situation. I would not even bother buying this product. There is no purpose for it, you are always going to want to mount it or use another accessory with it to film.

Does not Float!

Read the fine Print!!! Floaty will not support the additional weight of GoPro accessories. Make sure whatever you use to attach the camera to your wakeboard, surfboard, or other "Great for" GoPro Suggested water Activity doesn't weigh anything or it will sink to the bottom of the lake! Oh, and that great no-questions-asked replacement policy that comes with your GoPro subscription only works if you have a camera to return. Kind of difficult when the floaty you were counting on doesn't float.

GREAT PICTURES HARD TO WORK WITH

I like the camera but not the operating system. 1. The system should allow me to select the operating mode. I shoot mostly pictures, so defaulting to movies is not helpful. 2. The system should allow instant access to the pictures, so one does not have to go to the cloud for retrieval. 3. Finding the command area to find and forward pictures is not on the startup screen. I like the clarity of the pictures but not the user interface.

Robert, Thanks for reaching out. No video camera on the market is as unobtrusive due to its small size and yet provides such amazing visual acuity. This is the result of a new processor. It helps if the camera itself is updated. Here's a tutorial on that. https://youtu.be/vVC7YOY5axw As for getting started, this video can be very informative. https://youtu.be/wDXV1lW5rSE This video can be very informative for finding the right settings and optimum performance. https://youtu.be/wDXV1lW5rSE We appreciate your insights and will endeavor to make improvements. -Team GoPro

Need a more versatile option

We lost a 3 month old go pro 9 as the go pro helmet mount came off in the water while wakeboarding. Go pro were not interested in providing any help or solutions at all. Apparently even with this float attached it would not have floated. Love the camera but can’t comprehend how we can possibly do any water based sports safely without a solution that will still float when weight of necessary mount is added.

Heel relaxed

Camera goes out of the floater

Hard crashes can make the camera jump out of the floaty. They were pretty hard crashes but still twice I found my camera still floating with half of the body out of the floater. For the rest is pretty nice, I use it often in big waves and with 3m waves you can still see it thanks to the color

Batteries

Batteries almost never charge when left in camera - USB. Camera gets extremely warm. Bought a stand alone charging unit. Should go without saying that batteries are the foundation and no matter the quality of the camera/video it means nothing if the unit can't be powered.
