I received this as a new field tester, first product sent to test. I absolutely love this headlamp. This light passed the tests, even used it outside while it was raining very heavy and no one issue.
I've found my ultimate lighting companion in the Coast FL95R LED headlamp. This 1250-lumen powerhouse has revolutionized my outdoor experiences. I love switching between the Ultra View Flood and BULLS-EYE Spot beams, adapting to any situation I encounter. The three LED colors and multiple brightness levels have proven invaluable in various environments. I never worry about power thanks to the USB-C rechargeability, and the memory function is a time-saver. Despite its impressive output, I barely notice its weight during long treks. Its durability gives me confidence in rugged conditions. Whether I'm hiking, working, or exploring, the FL95R never lets me down. It's more than a headlamp – it's my reliable partner in adventure.
I’ve been looking for a high lumen and usb-c rechargeable headlamp for a while now. I bought my first pair of coast headlamps over 5 years ago and they’ve served me well and still work great. I decided to try a Nitecore similar to the FL95r and after a month the bracket broke. I decided to go back to coast and the FL95R Feels so much more high quality. The pivot of the lamp feels solid. From minimal use, I love this headlamp! The nitecore has been downgraded to tier 3 priority use aka for the kids to use camping or thrown in a bag somewhere.
I use my lights primarily for fly fishing at night as well as camping and backpacking. This light comes with a lot of great features at a very fair price point when you compare to the competitors. Being able to control the beam shape is a great feature and having the red light option is critical as well for my purposes. The area light mode is useful when you need a softer light without blasting the main beam. I also prefer this charging port over the battery pack on the RL10R that I also have from Coast, though that is also a nice light in its own right. My only critique is that you have to cycle through the green light to turn the red on and off. This isn't a huge concern, but something I would fix if I could. All in all a another solid product from Coast.
Rechargeable and being able to use standard AAA is pretty handy. Buttons I’m still getting used to and having different style lights on a head light might be a little much and doesn’t help the button situation. But the strap hold light in place good so lights not bobbling around in my head with every movement. On turbo mode it is handy unless your in tight spot then dim is almost to bright. But th area light comes in handy there. So over all a good light
I purchased the light to use going into my hunting locations before daylight wanted something small and light because the light will be on my person all day but i didnt want to sacrifice light output also wanted a good warranty. I am 68 years old and trying to reduce the weight of what i carry with me as i usuall hunt daylight to dark walking 6 to 8 miles some days. This light is just what i was looking for trust me. This will not be my last coast product.
This product was received to test out. Have used it once so far so more testing is needed. So far the first time out I used on a fire investigation. Having a hands free light that i can switch between a spot light for investigation purposes and then having the softer light for report writing was great. Added feature of the light being waterproof helped with decon and cleaning afterwards.
Solid and heavy bright width adjustable beam, this headlamp is perfect for those who don’t need low light. When the lowest setting is 100 lm you have to be at peace with bright. Adjusting the width of the beam is a classic coast feature, no improvement of substance here. However the absence of a low lumen setting is not acceptable when the maximum setting is 1200 lm. In my opinion a light this bright needs to have a warning on it, especially since the first tap of the button puts it in medium, rather than low brightness setting. This is a serious amount of brightness to look right at. The other button on the right turns on something that looks like an art deco arrangement. The light has a mellow affect which may be helpful if you need a mood enhancer. However the light itself shines into your face as well, and into your eyes. So it makes it harder to see what the light is illuminating that’s in front of you. Finally, coast is giving you a green light in addition to a red light, and as you might expect they’re both really bright and there’s no way to make them dimmer.
I have had the 85R previously. Liked the light, but had a couple needs, particularly a shut off switch for carrying in a back back. I contacted Coast about 18 months ago with the suggestion. Glad to see that improvement. Also the area lighting is nice. Couple winter camping trips with the light already and a solid preformer.
It is a really fine product. It's even better than I expected. My only complaint is the package it was sent in. It came in a box that would have held 30 headlamps. Not environmentally responsible. I've complained about REI's packaging before, but always ignored. I joined in 1970.
