It's honestly great for occasional night errands outside the house or as a backup option for hiking (which is why I got it). The high setting gets too bright if you're using it to read a map/instructions in front of you, and it's plenty bright if you're lighting the path ahead of you. Depending on your use case, you would turn off and turn on the flashlight again to cycle between high beam and low beam. Regarding battery life, I understand it's not as long as a typical flashlight, but this is alleviated by the fact that you can charge it frequently if needed, without having to replace a battery. As long as you do that, it's great and convenient for occasional use.
It might not be the biggest flashlight but it's super bright. But the downside is that when you have it on bright setting it goes dead SUPER quick. Won't go dead as fast on the dim setting but it doesn't quiet do the trick when it comes to visibility. It's just not bright enough. I thought the battery was pretty cool though I haven't seen a battery with a C-Type charger built into it before so I'm curious to see how long the battery lasts. Overall I do think it is a very handy flashlight. Just not something you would want if you need it for longer than about 20 minutes straight. That's how long it took to go dead from being fully charged.
The G22R is a fantastic flashlight. Its compact size makes it easy to slip into your pocket, ensuring that you can carry it with you at all times. I've always appreciated the option to use either batteries or USB to charge the light. This feature is especially helpful if you find yourself without a power supply or running low on batteries. The flashlight has two modes: high and low. In high mode, it provides 150 lumens, creating a bright beam for your targeted area. In low mode, it emits 50 lumens, which is perfect for tight spaces where light is limited or when you want to remain discreet. Personally, I find it very useful at night in my car as I always seem to be dropping things in between the seats. I must say, this little light is well-made, just like all the other products from Coast Portland. It is convenient, affordable, and comes with a lifetime warranty. Additionally, I always enjoy communicating with Coast Portland. As a loyal Coast customer, I can confidently say that the G22R is a great flashlight to add to your Coast collection. You can't go wrong with it!
When I initially saw the G22R, I didn’t have very high expectations, mainly because the small flashlights I’ve used in the past from other sources might as well have been disposable. I was completely wrong. The G22R packs a ton of power and innovation features into a tiny package. I should know by now that any product from Coast is far superior to similar items I have used. The G22R is a perfect choice for everyday carrying when you don’t want to pack a larger light but like to be prepared for any situation. The small size makes it nearly unnoticeable when carrying but when needed it performs above expectations. Couple that with the built-in power option and Coast’s unique and convenient rechargeable batteries and there is no comparison.
I was looking for a mini light that I can throw in my EDC backpack for emergencies. The size and functionality of this flashlight fits those requirements, and I really like how I can clip it next to my pens. It has a rechargeable battery which is nice. On the downside, the battery only lasts for about 20-30 mins of use per charge (interspersed high and low beams). I was using it to help me turn on a generator in the dark when we'd lost power, and it died on me when I needed it most. Can only recommend for casual use.
Comes with a rechargeable battery now and brighter than the earlier model. Probably the best performance vs price flashlight that REI sells
I am part of the field tester program and put the g22r to the test. First off let me start by saying thank you to Coast for allowing me to be part of their field tester program, it's an honor. The g22r is probably the best mini pocket flashlight that I have ever used, it fits perfectly in my pocket next to my knife that I have on me at all times, thanks to the clip on this flashlight makes for easy access and comfortable to wear all day. I use a flashlight alot throughout the day, I had to recently repair my shower valve and the g22r came in very handy and reliable I dropped it several times (not due to any part of the light but operator error) throughout the change of the valve as well as got it wet and is still currently working without hesitation. If you are looking for a handy pocket flashlight that's durable and reliable this one is free.
I really like the flashlight. I can carry it around in my shirt pocket. However, it says it's rechargeable, without instructions on how to recharge it. I have a cord without anything to plug it into.
This is a small inspection light. Just what I needed. Does not weigh me down when in my pocket. Easy enough to whip out when I need it. Bright enough, but it is no spotlight
