Bought and used this bag as a companion to a normal carry-on for a four-day trip to New Orleans in March. I had plenty of room for clothes and toiletries for the trip. My wife flies with her North Face Base Camp Voyager, listed at 35L, and this bag doesn't feel much bigger but I think thats in its ability to compress with the side compression straps. Overall this bag is comfortable to wear long-term, even without the waist strap, although that would have been a nice addition. Due to the DHS funding situation, we ended up standing in the TSA line for three hours and because we had our toddler with us I kept my bag on the entire time and my back never hurt. For size comparison, this bag is smaller than a medium timbuk2 copilot, so certainly carry-on compliant for Delta. It fit under-seat better than my wife's North Face bag in main cabin and really well in comfort.
Great rucksack for travelling, contains slightly more useable space than the Farden 35 roller (which I also have). It’s great having multiple zipped pockets and a water bottle holder on the side, really useful for lugging through the airport without having to squeeze a bottle inside the bag. The strap to attach the rucksack to a suitcase is great too. I wish it has orange grab handles to match the orange handles on the other Green Farden suitcases I have. All in all a really useful bag, when combined with the 75L Farden case allowed for enough clothing and footwear for a family of 3 to have a 7 night holiday.
I had my previous backpack for a decade. Being a touring professional requires a bag that can easily handle all my technology (MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, chargers, battery backups, cables, adapters), holds upto 45L of clothes, and has the perfect keys/passport travel wallet pocket. The zippers and pocket layouts are well designed. Strap adjustments are industry leaders and there is a perfectly sized water bottle pocket (holds by 28oz bottle). Just buy this bag - you will be so happy; the hardest choice will be choosing the color (the blue gets me compliments all the time).
Excited to use this backpack on my next trip, love all the different compartments, the laptop sleeve and the fact that the dimensions fit to various airlines as a carry-on. My ONLY complain that I can see right now is the lack of a hip belt and I do hope that Fjallraven will in the future offer one that can be purchased to add to this bag, as there are loops on the bottom to attach something. As a 5'2 Woman I really need a hip belt if I plan on walking any length of time with this bag (which is usually the case when you travel with a backpack carry-on)
I use this more as a laptop bag to take with me when I travel. It fits my gaming laptop in my Kanken case, a binder full of documents, my laptop accessories, and there is still room for a tablet, notebook, etc. I was honestly worried that this wouldn't fit much but I was proven wrong immediately. The design of the bag is also very nice. I got the black bag so that I can carry it while in uniform. Haven't been able to test the durability and longevity of it yet but hopefully it ages just as nicely as my Kanken did!
The straps used are so thin, hard and cheap it is physically painful to wear the bag at all making the bag useless. Absolutely poorly designed for travel and it is shocking Fjällraven did such a terrible job making the most uncomfortanble backpack on the market. They throw in a small bag to hide the fact the backpack can't be worn 5 minutes without severe backpain. Don't waste your money like I and everyone who purchased it did.
I've just received this backpack today. It's almost perfect, the quality, the way it's organised, but I don't really understand why there is no hip belt. For such a big backpack, it's an essential feature. It would be nice, at the very least, to be able to buy it separately as an option. If I understood correctly, there are two hooks at the bottom of the back to attach a hip belt, so I will probably buy it from another brand
Taking Fjallravens backpack expertise, quality, focus on functionality, simplicity and durability to design a focused travel backpack results in a very well built and designed, comfortable, practical backpack, well thought out and featured for travel. Lined sunglasses pocket and flask/bottle pouch easily accessible, Clamshell design main compartment offers plenty of versatile packing space. Padded laptop pocket suspended from the base provides protection and comfort against the back. Four grab handles offer useful strong comfortable carry options. Load lifters, compression straps and adjustable chest strap hold the pack close to your back for a comfortable carrying experience. Front pocket opens widely offering useful compartmentalisation, for accessible organisation. Possible additions, a hidden internal pocket for a tracking device, and a zippered pocket at the base of the back panel large enough for a wallet or passport as an easily accessible pocket while wearing the backpack
Okay, but underwealmed...wish there were more detailed pics of the inside on the e-shop page. It's design use accoutrements to justify it as high-end luggage compared with competitors in the class, while the pricepoint does reflect this. Shop around is my advice.
Took this on a 2 week solo trip. It's durable, organized and has great support. My only complaint is I wish it had a waist buckle, since I didn't have a roller bag it got a bit heavy to trek through each city and the airports.
