NNormal  Tomir 2.0 Trail-Running Shoes

Cannot recommend these trail runners enough! After slipping and injuring my leg last winter, I went down the rabbit hole to find a trail runner that was both well-cushioned and grippy as heck. The Tomir 2.0 checks both with aplomb. They carried me through training for and racing my first trail half marathon last fall, and a very icy 10k trail race today and even over the ice, I felt like I had control and grip. After they’re broken in (and yes, they do need to break in) they feel invisible. The fit is a little different than a Nike or Hoka or Salomon, but gives ample toe room. The curved lacing does take a little getting used to, since the upper has zero give to it. I tie them a little tight and after a few minutes, they’ve sort of settled in and away we go. Are they a little spendy? Yup. They are. But they are built to last way longer than most trail shoes, and they’re resoleable! So glad REI is carrying Nnormal!

I am in love with these shoes. Came from Hoka Speedgoat 5's which were the comfort dream, yet wear pretty fast and dont really have the best grip. These are everything I would have improved and more. Super comfortable, just the right amount of cushion, incredible grip, so happy I found these.

I’ve tried several brands and models, but nothing compares to the NNormal Tomir 2.0, especially for training. The cushioning is perfect, and I haven’t found a sole with better grip. On top of that, we should support brands like NNormal that are genuinely pushing for sustainability and durability in their products. This is exactly the kind of innovation trail running needs.

Great, durable shoes from the GOAT, Kilian Jornet’s Nnormal. The asymmetrical lacing does take some time to get used to, at least for me. Also, I recommend going a half size down. For hiking and trail running these are just great!

We bought these shoes for our daughter while hiking the Camino del Norte. After 3 weeks walking on road, off-road, on trails, hills and flat terrain, these shoes started wearing down. We averaged 15 km to 24km per day and after only 3 weeks these shoes did not hold up. They wore out behind the heel area. So unfortunate!! We heard great things and, in the end they did not live up to the hype!!!

This shoe is an amazing all a rounder. The good: Traction and fit are great, never any blisters or issues. I have a relatively narrow foot so getting the fit dialed in is a little more of a task then most people will have. The midsole is extremely durable and comfy. A bit too soft for my taste for longer runs so I keep this shoe to <20 mile runs but have used for a 60k. The laces are the best and stay tied better than any other other laces. The insole is an Ortholite so it also lasts forever. The outsole is the best there is, the grip is amazing and the longevity is just as good. The bad: the upper doesn’t breath, in the humid summer months the shoe becomes a sauna. This is exacerbated by the Ortholite insole as it’s an open cell foam and soaks up water. The shape of the insole is different than any aftermarket insole so replacing isn’t an option. The volume of the upper is a little on the big side so a slender foot can have lockdown issues. A thicker sock helps a lot with fit but then adds to the issue of moisture retention. The laces are too long and there isn’t a lace garage so I tuck the loops under the lace at the first holes. All in all this is an amazing value shoe. I have over 450 miles in them and see another 200 happening. After that a resole a life of yard work and hikes are in the cards for these shoes. If they offered a slightly less volume matryx upper and 4mm drop these could be some of the greatest shoes over.

Nice grip on snow, ice, mud, roots … I love the added cushion on this 2.0 compared to the 1.0. This is an extremely durable trail shoe.

200 miles in and helped me train on technical trails with adequate cushion and overall support. Would definitely buy the next version after retiring these at 500 miles.
