Really bad pair of shorts
The "3 in. stay-put XRT bands for comfort and mile-after-mile compression grip" really suck and provide no compression. Don't waste your time ordering these. You'll just have to return them.
padding in wrong place
When I first tried them on, I thought it was odd how much padding was in front. And after just getting back from my first ride with these shorts, I now understand that there is no padding where it matters. I am returning them this afternoon.
Nice, but I miss the REI-branded shorts
I bought these shorts, because they seemed closest to the two REI shorts that I already have. I would have given these five stars, except that they cost so much more than the REI ones, and the padding was thicker than I like. Full disclosure: the thin padding was what I liked about the REI shorts. ALL the shorts offered now are too thick for my kind of riding.
