These are comfortable beginner-intermediate climbing shoes with easy-to-adjust Velcro straps (my preference for ease of making changes to fit in the moment). However, the Velcro straps are sewn in such a way they aren’t flush with the shoe when threaded through the loops and tightened. This is more of annoyance than a hindrance, but could potentially make it hard to tighten the shoe comfortably for some. Also, the extra space left between the Velcro strap and shoe could potentially hook or snag while climbing. Good coverage of rubber on the heel and across the toes. Overall, a solid climbing shoe, especially if transitioning from beginner to more intermediate climbing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you Expertvoice and Black Diamond for this free product to test and review. I had some fun. I don’t climb in climbing gyms, no need…. I live in Bishop Ca and have quality rock surrounding me. So my review is solely based on outdoor climbing. I love testing and reviewing products so consumers can make an informed choice. I wear a size 7 1/2 in street shoes and I was given the new Women’s Momentum climbing shoe in a Euro size 38( size 7.5 in US sizing). I could have gone down another 1/2 size but still did well in this shoe. It felt great while climbing, I could get on a foot hold and stay there. Heel hooking was decent as well. The rubber was sticky and stayed in the rock especially in colder weather. I used these shoes on volcanic tuff and granite, held up well to the use and rock I put them on. This is perfect for beginners or intermediate climbers. I’m not an aggressive climber so this was perfect shoe for me. I enjoy the movement and this climbing shoe let me get after it. I love the Velcro closure for quick on and off or quick adjustment. This is a great and affordable choice for women who want to climb.
The Black Diamond Women's Momentum Climbing Shoes felt great overall — comfortable, supportive, and well-made. The fit was generally good, though I found the toe box a little tight. It might loosen up with more use, but something to keep in mind when choosing a size. I liked the adjustability of the velcro straps as it held the vamp with a gentle hug. The shoe performed well with good grippiness and comfort and gave me good confidence on the rock surface.
I was excited to try another pair of comfy, gym climbing shoes. Unfortunately, a few things about this show made me unable to use them as intended. First, the sizing chart wasn't helpful. I wear a women's 8.5 street shoe so I sized down to an EU 39 like I did for my other gym shoes. They were still way too big - my feet were swimming in them. Second, there is way too much tongue material for the shoe if you have narrow/low volume feet. It bunches when you cinch the Velcro down. The shoe has potential to be a good gym/warm-up shoe, but you need to dial in your sizing and folks with skinny feet may find they have too much fabric.
I wore these for my gym climbing session and they worked well! It took a little bit of adjustment to get the toe tight enough with the velcro, but once I figured it out it was good. The shoes fit well and they're the size I normally wear, so I'd say they're true to size. I was able to use fairly small footholds without slipping off; the sole and toe feel solid. I like the extra toe protection on top. I was even able to do a little bit of heel hooking, despite the box noting that this design isn't meant for that.
Comfortable for gym climbing with my kiddo. Blister free after wearing for an hour and a half. I leveraged a few small foot holds and features without slipping. Felt confident ringing that bell in these.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have taken these shoes out bouldering a few times and they have been awesome to use as a warmup shoe. These shoes are very comfortable, and seem quite durable. They even have enough angle for any beginners who want to focus on footwork. I plan to use these for longer sport climb routes this summer as well. Awesome shoe! :)
The Black Diamond Momentum climbing shoes immediately looked even more solid and sturdier than my past climbing shoes--but that made me wonder how they would actually feel and function while climbing. I should have had no concerns, as they impressed me from my first use with their grip and security. They have impressive wrap around protection and support which protected my feet while still allowing me to feel foot placements accurately, especially during weight transfers. I also really like that the velcro straps wrap from opposite directions which held my feet well. My only disappointment was that these shoes are a bit too wide for my foot, so when I cinched the straps across my feet, there was some bunching of material across my arch. Surprisingly it did not bother me at all while climbing though, just while walking, so I do not anticipate it causing any real issues. The length fit well and accurately. Overall, I feel very comfortable giving these Black Diamond climbing shoes the highest recommendation.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Black Diamond gave me this free product to try. I’ve been using these climbing shoes for sometime now, both in the gym and outside on rock, and overall I think they’re an excellent option for beginners. Right out of the box, they felt comfortable — much more so than other starter shoes I tried — and the velcro straps make it really easy to dial in a snug but not painful fit. They’re a little tight at first, so I definitely recommend sizing up about half a size to get the best balance of comfort and performance without cutting off circulation. What really stands out about these shoes is how forgiving they are without feeling overly soft or clumsy. They have enough support and precision to tackle more technical footwork as you get better, but they don't punish mistakes like a stiffer, aggressive shoe might. I could see these being perfect for newer climbers who want something they can grow into without having to upgrade right away. They also make a great option for experienced climbers looking for a more relaxed shoe for long gym sessions, multipitch routes, or casual climbing days when comfort is the priority.Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned climber who wants something you can wear for hours without thinking about your feet, these shoes strike a really nice balance between comfort, capability, and versatility.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The show was pretty comfortable straight out of the box and felt more comfortable as it broke in, the differnt ways to velcro it shut made it feel more simular to a laced shoe. The shoe was more on the narrow side. EU 38 was a little bigger than the same size in La Sportiva, you may wanna size down 1/4 or 1/2 from La Sportiva to BD. I wear a street size womens 8.5 or 9 The rubber was quiet durable but not as sticky as other brands. I think these shoes would suit me well for longer outdoor climbs. Black Diamond gave me this free product to try.
