Best Cycling Hydration Vest

This vest makes it a breeze to keep hydrated while biking. The vest fits snug but not tight. The hydration hose magnetically snaps in place, to effortlessly keep it in place but easy to grab. I love the cell phone pocket on the front, since I always like keeping my phone at hand when biking, though the pocket is small enough not to fit all phones. The clip on the back for the back for the helmet is a great alternative to locking my helmet with my bike, and the little gear bag is just big enough for the essentials. It's not a very big pack - but I don't want much besides my water, a couple tools, my phone, and maybe a little snack when I'm biking.

One great hydration pack

For years I have seen the Osprey name at REI and other mountaineering retailers. Their products always seemed well thought through from both appearance and function. Until receiving this product I did not realize how accurate a belief this would be. I have used hydration packs before, always functional and a great way to carry water and few incidentals for a hike or ride. Without a doubt, the team that developed this pack was up late thinking through every detail and creating a great small hydration pack that utilizes every part of the pack to it's fullest potential. Multiple zippered compartment to carry all hiking or cycling gear. A main pocket with interior elastic pockets. An additional lower rear pocket perfect for heavier items or tools. Main bladder pocket with sufficient space for both the water and additional gear. As if this was not enough both straps have multiple zippered or stretch pockets for snacks or more gear storage. As for adjustments. Every strap has adjustment potential. Wide main side straps that can be loosened or tightened as to bulk of clothing worn or your specific size or comfort needs. The two cross chest straps are mounted on slides that allow them to be raised or lowered for your specific fit needs. Even the cross strap connections are well though out, not requiring the classic squeeze to snap design, with a simple interlock, with the top one one having a magnet for connecting the bite tube to. If this was not enough, they even included a sun glass sleeve for sliding your glasses into. As I initially wrote, they must have stayed up real late designing this pack. Oh yah, it is comfortable and not binding as well, cool too, with a ventilated back. Bravo to this team of designers, I know I will get miles of enjoyment out of this great little pack.

Solid hydration pack for just about everything!

Great choice if you’re looking to up your game when it comes to a hydration bag. Super lightweight, comfortable, and super high quality. I’ve struggled in the past with functional pockets and fit for bags like this and so far this has exceeded expectation. The setup makes it easy to stay organized and still gives you plenty of space. My favorite part is the straps, so thin but super durable and very breathable. The first time I used it was on a long run and I didn’t get the typical run or chafing you have to deal with when it comes to breaking in a bag. The only thing I’d make sure I call out is the bladder itself. I ended up really liking it but just be warned, if you haven’t used one like this before, it’s going to feel like you’re breaking it he first time you try and get that open. It’s a little hard to fill and open up, especially the first time. That said, I’d rather have a bag that’s a little harder to feel than one that leaked down my back.

Works great for big chests

I've been skeptical of vests in general because I have wider shoulders and a big chest at 38C. I always thought these would squish my girls, but Osprey did us right. The straps stay to the outside of the girls, kind of hugging them. I ordered a L/XL, and it was plenty of room for me to layer and still have room to extend in the chest area. Also. like that I can adjust the height of the straps. I do wish their lower strap went a little lower because it was just on the cusp of hitting my bottom portion. The water bladder surprisingly had no plastic taste (which I'm very sensitive to), but I wish it came with a mouth cap. Love all the bells and whistles, like the little toolbag area at the bottom, the helmet strap on the back, and sunglass slot in the front strap. Plenty of room to throw in an extra jacket too. Seems a bit heavy for trail running, but I still might give that a shot for longer runs.

Great water and small item carrier

This pack is made for a water bladder and small item carrier only. Not room for clothing layers or other bulky items. Water bladder is the highlight. Super high quality hydropak with smooth open close and great bite valve. Tool compartment is very spacious and even fits a tube! I think the pack could use an expandable pocket or even some cinch cord for outer layers. Only other complaint is the weight. Osprey is not known for caring about pack weight and this one follows suit. 18.5oz empty. That said, very durable fabric and construction in case you encounter a rough bushwhack.

I expect better from Osprey

I'm not entirely sure what this pack is trying to be. Is it a vest? Is it a backpack? It's like they designed and tested it without filling the water bladder and called it a day. Empty, it fits great, but once you fill the 1.5l bladder, it gets a bit wonky and takes a lot of adjusting to get it into a tolerable position. I constantly found myself fighting with the straps even after 2 miles into my run. When I felt I had the shoulder/chest squared away, the armpit straps were too high, once I got the armpit straps comfortable, the chest would start to ride up. Fix the chest, and the side straps would ride up again. The pack also didn't come with a fitment guide or any thing to reference how it's supposed to fit. If I were to suggest design changes, I'd recommend making the vertical chest straps narrower, the side straps lowers, and design it to be in the ideal position with a nearly full bladder. The other problem with the wide vertical chest straps is the back makes you very warm, which for SoCal trail running is a no-go. I'll give this pack a go for snowboarding as an under-jacket item and see how it goes, but otherwise I don't see myself using this, and would have returned it if I had purchased it. I have a lot of Osprey product that I like very much, but this one is a miss.

Perfect sized hydration pack for biking

Fortunately the weather has been great to test. The straps are great with how they connect instead of traditional straps. Love the ease of use. The water spout is magnetically connected for easy drink then reconnect. Fabric is very sturdy and everything fits and feels good when biking.

Best hydration vest ever!

This is one of the best products that Osprey has made hands down. Comfort, storage, and versatility! This bag has it all. The hydration vest is made for cycling, but I have quickly grown to love it for hiking and being outdoors in general. The vest style fit means it is comfy without being a burden. It holds a ton of equipment and gear. The breathable construction means that you don't get too hot, even in Texas. The vest is designed so that the water does not cause it to bounce or swing around. The 6 liter water bag is easy to get in and out and also wash to ensure it stays clean.

Great hydration vest for versatile activities

So many features made me instantly love this pack for biking. It sits really tight and close to your body so doesn't bounce around even when riding over rocks. All the straps can be adjusted to your level of comfort. The chest straps and the hydration hose has magnetic latch which is so cool!!! Extremely easy to use with gloves and during the ride. The tool roll is another such a well thought design, carries all necessary tools for your big ride day. The helmet attachment is also a nice touch. Overall, love this pack, not just for riding but will also use it for hiking/running.

Great fitting hydration vest with lots of options.

The product fit snuggly and offered excellent support. It had additional storage compartments so you can bring small snacks even sandwhich and other tools or accessories. Very portable and lightweight and the material was solid and could take a beating.
