Surprisingly Comfortable
Tried on several three season mountaineering boots, and got severe blisters after about 90min with all others. Used these to summit Mt. Rainier in June and was extremely happy. Yes, my feet were cold. No, I didn’t feel it became a big issue. It was 10ish degrees and a relatively calm day at elevation. I do tape my feet prior to long movements in boots. If you have blister issues due to heavy sweating like I do, these are great. If that’s not an issue, a four season boot is likely a better move for hardcore mountaineering. I feel like these are best suited for those with long shoulder seasons, who would like something to tackle Olympic range sized summits with intermittent long crampon days. They don’t feel LaSportiva narrow, and I was much more comfortable than in the Charmoz model Scarpa.
